Tasted at Benvenuto Brunello NYC. Medium garnet color. Big and rich, but pure with no obvious oak influence. Fresh, detailed, complex with cherry, red florals, mineral elements and good depth. Purity of fruit. Long finish. Elegant and beautifully balanced. Long-lived.

Nice Brunello, recognizably CP. Though, suffering from over engineering, specially when it comes to much more invasive wood compared to “black label” standard. Obvious use of new wood is overloading the SG characteristics. Seems a trend by now in Montalcino, as more producers go for wooded cuvées for their american customer base. Though mostly using blends rather than 100% SG.

Tasted at Benvenuto Brunello NYC. Another nice wine from Corte Pavone but a slight disappointment relative to my last tasting of this cru from the 2013 vintage. This bottle had lots of texture and the correct Sangiovese Grosso profile of cherry and licorice but it lacked depth of flavor and had a fairly short finish. Perhaps the bottle had just been opened.

Tasted at Benvenuto Brunello NYC. Only 1900 bottles produced. Very bright with high acidity and nice tannic structure for aging but very balanced. Very long with great depth of flavor, showing earthy cherry and licorice with minerals on the finish. Wonderful wine that will age magnificently.
