Girard, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley

Loved this wine. Strong nose with citrus/acidity. Very smooth and light cream texture. Went through a variety of flavors with lemon grass, nutneg, and green apple on a light flowery start to apricot and subtle butterscotch finish. Flavors really hang on your palate.

Light pale yellow-green. Apples and melon, citrus. The wine was better after time out of the refrigerator. Slightly minerally and not a great finish.

This is a very good Sauvignon Blanc which changes character considerably depending on its temperature. Served a little on the cold side, it predominantly shows green apple, lemon/lime and lemon grass. As it warms up, it picks up aromas of peach and grapefruit. Rated 90 by Wine Enthusiast (2012 vintage also rated 90 by WE). Light bodied and crisp, with a lemon-lime core and a hint of white flowers, fresh herbs and grapefruit zest in the aftertaste. Fermented in stainless steel. Grapes picked later in the season, but this is not a late harvest wine. Made with native yeasts and no malolactic fermentation.

Pale yellow in color, this Sauvignon Blanc is certainly worthy of its price but does not flaunt the complexity of Girard's better versions. Citrus and hay aromas are followed by a fresh, light-bodied palate with similar flavors. The alcohol (listed as 13.9%) is nicely integrated and the middle palate is solid. Short-to-medium in length on the finish, it is a bit disappointing on the back-end. Drink now-2016.

Crisp. Clean. Very balanced. Slightly dry yet tart with splashes of citrus. Lovely softness on the tongue. Would NOT describe this as "peppery" what so ever. Incredibly smooth. A perfect "cocktail" wine. Doesn't need to be paired with anything. Outstanding.

Extremely bright citrus fruit - sharp green apple, pineapple, lemon zest, lime, grapefruit. good alcohol, good heat. Enjoyed 1/2 a case of this over the last few months and have really enjoyed. probably needs some food with it but summer refreshing, if not just a touch sharp.

Nose: Grapefruit, Lemon Zest and grassy notes. Palate: Very characteristic Napa Sauvignon Blanc that has a bit of melon fruit up front with tart citrus and a hint of oak to provide texture. Nice wine. Finish: Cutting acid with more citrus fruits.

A very good Sauvingon Blanc with predominantly citrus (grapefruit) flavors and some tropical fruit. There seems to be a touch of oak, but if so it is very subtle. Medium to medium plus acidity. It nicely straddles the spectrum between the oakier and softer Mondavi Fume' Blanc and the more tart and acidic Sancerres. Roars to the top of our SB house wine choice. Big fruit in the nose, carrying to the palate with kiwi, guava and a touch of pinapple in a shell of very light lemongrass; opens with some air and leaves with a medium-long finish. Love the balance of fruit, acidic structure. A classic new-world style SB, and just delicious.

Delicious balance between bracing acidity, grapefruit, grass, and herb flavors with th emellowing influence of nints of oak and vanilla to make the flavors rounder and more complex; has the clear color of a fine MSR riesling and a clean, very refreshing taste. An excellent choice before a spring/summer meal.
