Dinner at Jade Palace. Mid ruby. Richly perfumed nose. Concentrated, ripe fruit. Beautiful balance. Quite robust and not particularly complex. Nevertheless it outperforms the humble village status. This is really impressive and it’s too bad that this is my last bottle.

Well-placed top-of-the-slope lieu-dit in the nosebleed seats above Malconsorts. From a vintage like 2015 this easily transcends village-wine status. It does need a shakeout of some relatively high CO2. The fruit is vibrantly toned, almost has the energy of a Beaujolais but with darker, earthier tones on account of the gingerbread and cinnamon-spice mix which screams Vosne-Romanee in personality. Just a hint of slightly cedary oak along with it.

100% Pinot Noir from this "lieu-dit" with simple communal appellation lying just uphill from La Tache and other Grand Crus. 14% Abv. Proprietors: Fabrice Vigot and Christine Martin A(ccuracy)=2: Med ruby/garnet. Pure, floral varietal. B(alance)=3: Focused fruit, fine acid and alcohol structure. C(omplexity)=2: Dark berries, herbs, spices, mineral. D(epth)=2: Silky yet firm mouthfeel, vibrant mid-palate and lingering finish. Wine Tally Score [2,3,2,2] = 9/10 Firm yet supple, definitely outclassing its simple appellation by considerable margin! [https://www.facebook.com/WineTally/] [https://www.instagram.com/WineTally/]
