Ghost Rock Vineyard Pinot Noir Estate

Tasmania wine tour day one (Tasmania) : Medium minus intensity aromas of spicy notes, alcohol prickle, black, blue and red fruits; rhubarb. Medium plus intensity acidity, leaner and grippier than the 2024, touch of fruit tea, less generous.

Med translucent ruby. On opening nose showed well but acid was front and centre, fruit hidden. Day 2 much improved. Aromas of musk stick, cherry, wild raspberry, bramble, eucalyptus, whole bunch spices. Palate is much the same with med+ acidity, gentle tannin, slightly sappy mouthfeel. Stemmy whole bunch. Good fruit concentration and length. Overall nice Pinot at this price point, would improve with short term ageing.

Big nose immediately reminds you of why we love pinot noir. Palate shows vanilla oak that compliments the primary flavours of cherry, menthol and spice. Lovely line of acidity means it has cellaring potential.

Red fruit smells cherry, slight sweet smelling fruit core has a touch of lozenge. Slight tart red fruit, smidge bitter, simple. Meh.
