(With Photos) (Sips Restaurant in Southwest Harbor, ME) : Color: Violet Smell: Lavender, dark fruit, vanilla, blueberries, and lilacs Taste: A strong presence of oak leads into flavors of blueberries, anise, plum, char, and blackberries. Overall: A more "international" style of wine. It's got a bunch of heavy oak treatment and lush fruit...it's very tannic, with brisk acidity but does not speak of a place or varietal. Not worth the price of admission.

Popped and poured at Tratorria degli Artisti in Aosta, Italy. Deep but not murky purple black color. Intense, balanced nose of red fruit, tar, and tobacco. Powerful and fruity on the palate with excellent acidity and moderate tannin. Long, tarry finish. This paired brilliantly with local cuisine of risotto valdosta, spezato on polenta, local cheese and charcuterie. The wine is a blend of fumin and syrah.
