Monticello Vineyards (Corley Family) Cabernet Franc

Been opening some 1997 cabs, and this bottle has been one of the best. Wine held up fantasic, smooth, and good flavor depth. Maybe I got lucky on this one.

Had a bottle a couple years ago and it was great (89 rating) but it's well past it's prime now. Most of the up front friut has faded and there was little left on the finish. Decanting did not help. Still had tannins left which made it drinkable with a grilled strip steak. If you have any - drink it now.

fully mature, perhaps even a bit past its prime. Medium garnet in color, fairly simple and faint fruit nose, nice structure and balance but no real complexity. I thought it lacked some fruit in the taste. Moderate length. A pleasant drink with friends, but less memorable than expected.
