Like last year's bottle minus the brett, which gains it a point - very fresh and crisp, yet not in a Roches Neuves way - this is more classically built, with fine notes of redcurrant and red cherry dominating some blackberry and herbs. Drinking well now, but no reason to think it will drop off any cliff in the next decade and could improve further.

Good stuff - a little brett on the nose and palate, otherwise a classic 2014, so bright, fresh fruit, not overripe, plenty of poise and class - I grabbed some more on the basis of this bottle. It's pretty good value at around 25 euros.

Domaine de la Chevalerie Visit with Vintage '59 (Restigne) : Brief tasting note, cellar visit and lunch with Stephanie. More earth, less pepper, thyme, salt (tangy flavors) and spice notes especially are forward here. Easy and approachable.

Domaine de la Chevalerie Visit with Vintage '59 (Restigne) : Brief tasting note, cellar visit and lunch with Stephanie. Pulled from the domaine's cellar. This was all earth and beet, light bodied and fully mature but delicious today with medium acidity and a savory finish. Showed better than the 1983 tasted immediately prior.

First time with this producer. It’s a rather muddled, darker fruited wine. Showing some Brett. This probably needs a few more years to develop further and find clarity.
