PNP on day 1. It smoothed out quickly (30 mins) - no proper notes but impression was - If anything it is too smooth with primary blue and black fruit and maybe a vein of earth and dry sandalwood. Tannins are resolved with medium acidity. On day 2 took proper notes: color is medium garnet with good clarity. There is no brown but it does not appear young, more middle aged. The smell is dominated by Maine wild blueberry preserves, …

I thought this was a goner, based on the WA drink by dates, but this bottle was purchased at the winery and stored in a refrigerated cellar. It held up very well - fully mature with good clear red color - barely a hint of brickiness. Nose was bordeaux like - hints of cedar and leather. Still has some fruit - especially blackberry. Went very well with rack of lamb. Pretty darn good for 25 years old.

On my first trip out to Napa (2015), Jarvis was one of the favorites, and so we went back in 2016 and again in 2018. We go to Napa every year, and it’s one of the only wineries we have visited multiple times. This was part of a retrospective on 2012 Napa cabs, alongside Shafer HSS, Scarecrow, Morlet CdV, Bryant DB4, Dominus, Pulido Walker Melanson, Kapscandy, Buccella Cuvee Katrina Eileen and others. Definitely the most restrained. For some reason, I …

Cocoa and a fine cigar. What more could one ask for after Southern snow fell all day? We watched the magnolias catch flakes and the pines sway with each gust. A warm fire burned and the crackling of the wood set the scene for a perfect January night. A stew on the stove and some Jarvis in our glasses and we were home. We drank this wine for three hours. What began as a fruitful pairing to our cheese course, …

Drank from split. Ripe black fruit on the nose that mostly settled out after 1 hour in the decanter. Pallet adds leather, smoke, vanilla and baking spice. Medium finish.

The PERFECT XMAS dinner wine. Lucious blackberry, hints of floral, smooth texture. Improved over decant. Drank two bottles; one cork was exceptionally dry, but the wax seal saved the vino. While this might have been a "legendary vintage" for Jarvis with Dimitri at the helm, it did not live up to the lofty expectations I had anticipated. And frankly being 100% CAB, it was not Bordeaux like in any way. Alas, quite enjoyable, but I'm not sold on Jarvis completely.

Very nice vintage that is certainly in the earlier half of its life. Tannins were very restrained. We didn't decant, but it might benefit from a half hour or so. Pushed the community window out to 2028 - the current 2022 is much too soon.

Very French like rather than Californian. Has held up very well (bought from Vinyard and stored at 13 degrees C). Complex nose with nice dark fruit as well as leather, tobacco, cedar and a touch of bacon. Smooth tannins. Went exceptionally well with Wagyu ribeye. Mmmm

Stunning! Transported all the way to Park City for a beautiful group dinner. Floral, luscious, dark blackberry with plenty of fruit. Clearly 2 decades+ was perfect for this absolutely delicious Napa CAB.

Out of a 375. Super mature nose on open, which blew off after about three hours in the decanter. Extracted plum on the palate, good acidity, and fully integrated tannins make this extremely pleasant. Wonderful ripe fruit without all of the hot mess of the last decade of Napa shows what all the fuss was about 20 years ago.

the second of two bottles which i shared with the central jersey CT offline group at Ursino Restaurant in Union, N.J. i had previously enjoyed a bottle of this on 2/24/14. at that time, the wine completely blew me away. it was a pop and pour, was extraordinary from the outset and continued to evolve in the glass. at the time my notes indicated: Youthful garnet color. Fragrant nose. Enveloping mouth feel. Explodes with aeration in the mouth. Completely invades …

90's Cali Cab and the Kitchen Sink (Ursino in Union, NJ) : In retrospect prob should have decanted this earlier since a bit of time with this wine in the glass and esp the second bottle which did go through the decanter really showed well. In the beginning I was mostly tasting the age (a flavor that I happen to really like). Nice and deep and just a bit of the stewed fruit flavors. After some time the spice started …

I organized OTBN 2014 on CT and chose this bottle as our entry. We visited the winery during our trip to Napa in 2001 upon the suggestion of my then boss, c.d. had a wonderful time during that visit in the man made cave. Purchased this bottle shortly thereafter. I never quite found the right occasion to consume this memory of our experience. I was beginning to worry about this bottle since previous notes by others suggested it might be …

Consistent notes as with Mark H. LeQuire below, wonder if there was 'more to give' of this bottle if I drank it a bit sooner. Still, plenty of luscious life left this evening. So long Jarvis!

Highly opaque, garnet color with a little rim variation and sediment. No flaws. Medium fruit intensity, and low earth intensity. Aromas of cherries, plums, raspberries, and blackberries. Roses. Dry sugar. Low acid. Medium minus tannins and alcohol. Long finish. Slightly complex new world style. We liked it alot.

Deep red, nice palette, nose is cab and straw, just muted spice on the finish, good solid classic cab, life left, but no reason too wait, its past its prime.

Northwoods New Year 2010; 12/27/2009-1/3/2010 (Boulder Junction, Wisconsin) : Not quite as rich or elegant as the 1999 Dalla Valle also served, but the #2 bottle of the 4 that I opened.

I think others overrate this wine. While it is technically a very decent wine, with all the "right" characteristics of a cabernet sauvignon, there isn't anything about it that really makes me say "WOW".
