A perfectly serviceable CdP at this point in it's life. Had this in the barrel chez Sabon in 2010 and was challenged by the winemaker to keep it a few years. Well, I did. It did not outperform the marginal vintage, but it shows proper CdP blend of bramble, candied fruits and a sprinkle of Grenache acidity. Finishes rather short (by this bottling standards on most vintages). Drink up.

Classic CDP in many ways. Perfumed and flowery nose. Spicy ripe and bright red fruits. Some hints of clove and leather. The finish was a bit disappointing in how short it was, but an easy to drink and well made wine.

Very ripe and forward aromas and flavors. Very nice, even if somewhat one dimensional.

Ripe, black fruit aromas and flavors with a slightly sweet character. Mostly primary and one-dimensional, but with good enough balance from start-to-finish so that is easy to enjoy.

The wine opened with a funky odor which blew off in an hour. Decent structure but fruit did not show even through a leisurely meal.

32 Chateauneuf du Papes tasted, mainly '05 - inc'g Janasse, Mordoree, Usseglio (Beltramo's in Menlo Park, California) : Bright cherry red color; oaky, tart red fruit nose; tart red fruit with too much spicy oak, hint of white pepper, a little hot; medium-plus finish finish 90+ pts.

Beautifully balanced, very elegant and smooth, hardly a tannic bite at all. Nice floral and anise notes. Medium bodied, with a decent finish. A bit more intensty and depth would have really made this a stunner.
