Ripe blackcurrant, plum and blueberry fruit. Lead pencil, green menthol on the nose and palate. Integrated powdery tannins. Best red of the night in the Giaconda lineup in my opinion, sad that I don't think they make the Cab anymore. Still very fruit-forward and purple-tinged, this was in excellent condition and could have waited much longer.

Medium bodied Cabernet, quite plush but has elegance, balance and poise. Chalky tannins, concentrated plummy black fruit, tea, cedar and graphite. A smooth profile, texturally quite interesting, plenty of flavour and length. Not really known for their Cabernet but Rick has made a good one here.

25th Dec 2011 this is a big wine from australia and i have high expectations having cellared it for more than 10 years. the colour of the wine is still deep red. the bouquet was of big fruit which the initial taste did not disappoint. enjoyable without having to decant but i did feel that i should have enjoyed this wine a couple of years earlier as i believe that the best years are behind it.
