Still a good, saturated color, with aromas of cooked black cherries, leather, garden herbs and oak. Med-full bodied, this is rich and round in the mouth with excellent acidity and a good tug of tannin on the finish. This has certain,ly seen better days, but is in fine shape. Flavors of stewed black cherries and roasting meat, garden herbs such as laurel and sage, black tea and of course a good lashing of sweet oak. Delcious! Drink now 92 Tatiana …

Nose of wet earth, bright cherries, cranberry, pine needles and menthol with lingering flavors of dark cherry, licorice, and sweet oak. Finish still lasts well over a minute. Glad I cellered it, beautifull now and for 5 more years.

Still a healthy color, but the nose is starting to smell old. A bit singed as Michael Broadbent used to say, there's baked black cherries with grilled herb switches of thyme and rosemary. Full-bodied, this is still loaded with sweet black cherries roasted with rosemary and thyme as well as roasting meat! This is absolutely fabulous and youthful on the palate. Drink now-2028 93

From magnum. Decanted 2 hrs. Dark red opaque, paling edge but still has shades of blue! Large bq w dark berries, tobacco, raw meat, minerals, pencil lead. Reminds us of a left bank Bx! Rounded tannins, fresh acidity, fruit picking up dry notes, but still in plenty. Aftertaste medium+, w dark fruit and some alcohol coming forward (14,5%). Magnum bottles will live a few more years (but we wonder about smaller bottles).

I might have known from the fact the most recent notes on this wine were from 2 years ago, that I let this one go too long. At first there were some interesting mushroom and soy notes on the nose and palate, but it all fell apart very quickly...unappealing stewed fruit and a complete lack of acidity to hold anything together. I have one more bottle...oh well.

I found this wine had a classic Rioja nose but over two nights I lost interest after dinner. I will score a wine higher if I really want to keep drinking it as the night goes on.

Opened 2 hours before drinking. no decant. Delicious, drinking perfectly--rich, dark in glass, as earlier note, but more so--fruit, earth, wood all a bit deeper, cocoa, long finish, perfect balance. Did not detect the 'aged sherry' mentioned by CINCYBT. Really good with roasted garlic tart, grilled marinade lamb. A pleasure, intoxicating with the food.

A rock solid Rioja temp with earthy, ashy low-end notes and a nice cocoa finish with hints of an aged sherry. It didn’t feel like this one could lay down a whole lot longer and might be tilting post-peak but still drinks well especially for its price point.

Wayfarer describes it really well. A bit more modern but every bit as good as the Rioja Alta and Muga which I also like a lot. Reminded me of Justin Tempranillo in its style. Really impressive wine and good value at £30.

Drinking well. Dark fruit with just the right amount of tannins on the finish.

Right in the drinking window now - expressive and rich. A little hot - keep at cellar temperature. 50/5/13/18/6

Decanted 1 hour before serving. Paired with wild mushroom stuffed leg of lamb. Really lovely & rich nose of red fruit, layers of aged and fresh accents, some earth & oak, some floral notes. Moderate long on palate, with added darker fruits others have noted. Loved the nose, a bit more than the mouth, but overall nice and perfect with the food.

From Magnum. Dry earthy cherry notes, mushroomy, fresh and easy drinking, medium bodied with low acidity and subtle oak. This is very nice but finishes short with a touch of dry tannins and an acidity streak. Needs a bit of flesh and a longer finish towards the end to be a fantastic wine. Very nice and well crafted. 90

Wonderful nose, really outstanding! kirsch liqueur, espresso, cola, sweet scent, smoke, cedar on the nose. sour red berries, pomegranate, mulberries, red plum BUT also black currant, wild blackberries, blueberry jelly, licorice, balsamic, spices, tobacco, minerals pencil shavings and very light oak succulent finish (it really has pauillac character but also classic and modern rioja characteristics)

Pencil shavings, smoke, licorice, blueberry, and plum. A really delicious wine and at a great drinking point now with plenty of life in the tank.

Can't believe it's our last bottle. Deep purple, with pronounced notes of dark fruits and cocoa. Taste follows the nose, with a full 45 seconds. Fuller body than a typical Tempranillo. Outstanding for the price.

Tasted Aug 2013. Prime drinking, nose has dense dark fruit aromas lurking with notes of mocha, soy spice and oak. Very dense and plush on the palate with flavors of toasted grains, dark berry and mineral dust. Very long finish. Very dense and rich, well integrated tannins. Excellent

Deep purple. Out of the gate, dominant aromas of smoke and pencil shavings. After about an hour, muted black fruits came through. Black fruit and mocha on the tongue. An excellent wine, particularly for the price, that will continue to develop.
