Inglorious Batards (Noreetuh restaurant, Manhattan, NY) : This started off excellent on the nose but a little dried out on the palate, and then got better all night. Exotic and tropical on the nose with a dollop of brown sugar. Matt said that this smell more like papaya then any other wine he's had. The palate was sweet with food and matched some of the dishes at Noreetuh very well - in particular the pastas and the fried chicken. It …

WOW! What Eric said. Tropical leechee, OMG, great balance.Wowed everyone who tried it. Had with cold lobster and octopus. Amazing. Won't improve, but should last another 10 years with this level of intenity. The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle.

The nose was intense with a mix of lecchy, pineapple, melon, and dried apple, contrasted by dusty florals and spice. On the palate, I found deep, silky textures with rich tropical fruits that coated the senses with an oily feel before balancing acidity grounded the experience in reality. The finish was spicy, going on and on. Simply gorgeous.

A 24 year old Scheurebe still showing its wild side! Plenty of pineapple and (green) mango aromatics, and a still notable sweetness are the hallmarks of this wine. There seems to be a touch of botrytis, or perhaps just age has added a honeyed element to the wine. Lovely to drink as an aperitif.

In better shape than I expected with bright mango, pineapple and faint greener herbal flavors tinged with a little botrytis. There's still plenty of weight and sweetness, but it's rather low in acidity and does feel a bit soft. Very nice though, and well above my expectations for such an old Scheurebe.
