Dried fig, dark chocolate, with hints of caramel and walnut on the nose. Medium-bodied with a leaner, more elegant profile than expected. Fig and chocolate carry through on the palate, with touches of toffee and orange peel. Moderate finish, clean but somewhat thin — drinks lighter than many 20-year tawnys.

I last had a bottle of this Port almost five years ago to the day. Grabbed on a lark for a celebratory dinner. Because of the lack of planning, the Port only got a two-hour decant. It was better for it. Port was clear; medium garnet bowl to a rose exterior with an amber rim and broad halo. Flavor profile very similar to my note of 2-8-2021 but less bold on the tongue. Medium amber color. Aromas of raisin, dried apricots, dried cherry, orange peel, toasted almonds, caramel, honey. Medium+ acidity, moderate sweetness, good balance. Taste of raisin, dried fig, candied orange, caramel, toast. Slight bitterness in finish.

Absolutely wonderful! Grahams is the benchmark of all other port houses! 10 year port averages 10 years of aging, 20 year port averages 20 years of aging, 30 port averages 30 years of aging, 40 port is a MINIMUM of 40 years of aging.

almost tawny in color... fairly tired but enjoyable... tons of sediment

1991 vintage

The half-empty bottle emerged from the liquor cabinet, so I suspect it had been in there for a long time in that state, and I concluded that the off-putting alcoholic edginess was therefore not an inherent flaw, but rather evidence that the wine, though robust, is not indestructible, and that after an indeterminate number of months of aeration, it might be better-suited for purposes other than drinking.

Losing fruit but still enjoyable.

Retains good colour. Red fruit, over bright bouquet; lacks weight & power or conviction. Another bottle that disappoints (from a different batch).

1997 vintage

Klassisk og intens.

Like pecan pie in a bottle but w/nice acidic lift & some persistent grapey fruit, sweet but nicely balanced.

Bottled in 2011 so an older bottle. Mature, with bright notes of dates, figs, and a mixed array of dried fruit. Shows nice viscosity, concentration, and a good bit of bottle age, all matched by very good verve and energy. Long, dry, and juicy finish.

Annual Caroling & Chili Party (R&D's) : Notes of kirsch, cherry cordials, currants, chocolate and florals. Red berry fruit dominates the palate, in that "sweeter" vein that I find is Graham's style, with hints of spice and licorice in the finish. Just a bit of alcoholic heat knocks this down a point or two for me tonight. (R&D)

Broke out another bottle. Consistent notes, delicious right out of the bottle. Wonderful nose, like you’re climbing into the barrel. A little on the sweet side. Not breaking any new ground as far as port flavors, but just plain good. No sign of fading. Oh, that nose!

Lovely mature sweet port, still with some grip. Very good value.

Garnet, pale rim, thick legs; creme brule, dried cherries, nutmeg, almonds, wet leaves, wood; sweet, cherry, pruney, cocoa, peppery, smooth, medium-full body, excellent balance, nice acidity, grainy tannins, lingering finish Nicely aged showing complexity with smoothness and balance. Easy-to-drink. Good with sharp cheeses.

Really boring this time.

Dark fruit flavours, not fully raisined by a nice balence. The alcohol did feel quite bold but as it evolved in glass drank very well and will keen 30+

Garnet/brick colour. Slightly hot nose with walnut, almond, dried apple, fig, and caramel aromas. Warming, assertive palate with big, nutty flavours; sweet with good acidity for balance; long, dried fruit and nut finish. 4.5/5

I have not had this for 12 years and it had matured very slowly. Remarkably impressive depth of colour. Very concentrated and more rustic than Graham often is. This was from a half bottle and mighty imp0ressive too.

Grabbed this bottle at Costco. Notes of chocolate on the nose. Raisin, chocolate, and fig on the palate. Not too sweet. Nice finish. Very drinkable for the price point.

Drank at Drapers A wonderful finish to the evening. Lovely colour, just start that lovely thinning. Superb to taste, sweetness of syrupy figs and liquorice. Wine of the night!

Spencep's review below nails it. Color is lovely pale ruby, with no bricking. So young and fresh, delicious right out of the bottle. Heavy. (break out the coravin, people; a little goes a long way.).

Drank in Porto Beautiful depth and flavour

From memory: I liked this one more than expected. It had a really fine Graham's character like the 1983 vintage port which through all of its life has had the same dark, sweet and luxurious style. Very refined aftertaste with plush tannins.

Symington tasting at Graham’s Port Lodge (Villa Nova de Gaia, Portugal) : Medium to dark reddish brown colour, the darkest of the Tawnies. Sweet and concentrated. Intense walnut, honey, caramel. Great, fresh acidity. Very long. I prefer it to the syrupier Dow’s 40yo. Okay with cheeses, but better on its own.

Absolutely nothing wrong here, but over several nights it just wasn't singing. Structured, firm and not heavy. Very much a 1997 in mould but none of the complexity of my benchmark Fonseca. Ready but no rush.

Ouff, nutty spicy and developed 10Y tawny. Not my favourite style but nonetheless a journey of flavours. Raisin and dried fruit, caramel and tons of oxidised layers.

It’s developing vs the 10 Y.O. Barely red anymore with dark chocolate, burnt caramel and nutty notes. The style is of course made to analyse and sip, and for the 60€ it sets you back it’s not at all a bad deal.

Wow. Gorgeous even immediately after opening. Black plums, black cherries, vanilla, and caramel, with a touch of alcoholic heat, followed by a phenomenally long aftertaste which began with spice cake (cloves, ginger, nutmeg), moved on to dates and dried orange peel, and, at the very end (and almost endlessly), settled down on walnuts. No decanting Tasted in zalto universal Tasted at 8 degrees The nose: Beautiful dark notes. Prune, figs, raisin. Chocolate, Marcipan and smoked oak. Creamy aroma as well. The palate: Lovely smooth texture with prune and figs, with a little plum and liqurice. Chocolaty finish and spices wraps your mouth up at the end. From a half. Even in this format this is full, dark and in many ways youthful. It didn't shine to night alas - perhaps it needed a longer decant. To be honest I'd wait.
