Domaine Henri Delagrange & Fils Volnay 1er Cru Champans

(at Brasserie Marie - Amsterdam) So this is an interesting wine. First time with the producer. It pulls almost every lever I don’t like in Burgundy: oak, extraction and bite. Yet despite this, the fruit is cherry beautiful, it feels only medium bodied in the mouth and there is no bitterness/astringency. I feel like I am drinking burgundy. Transparent dark pomegranate. pnp very direct slightly overripe and heated nose. Then it shuts down completely, at most a tad of dextrose. slightly diluted with fresh red fruit. Good acidity and fine tannins accompany a longer than expected finish. this is still very primary but shutdown right now. Decant this for several hours or drink it over several days or put it away for at least 5+ years.

Fruits rouges, bois, épices et un côté un peu végétal au nez, du fruit mur en bouche mais un petit peu tannique encore. 88-89 Red fruit, spices, oak, and a bit of a vegetal side to it, the palate is slightly tannic and rustic still.

Dégustation Volnay/Chambolle 2015 : Nez de mûres, charmeur. La bouche est ronde et mûre, d'une belle gourmandise, savoureux. Il fait très 2015. Encore primaire, mais délicieux. 91-92 pts Mon vin, que je n'ai pas reconnu.

Horizontal Volnay/Chambolle 1er cru 2015 : blind...my least favorite of the flight... too much oak, green aromas

Vraiment pas chanceux avec ce vin.

Dark purple red. Concentrated bouquet and color. Red and black berries, good acidity and pleasantly sticky tannin. The most concentrated wine of this producer.

Soirée chez les Delagrange : sur fûts. Truffe, fruit noir, plus de structure, même pureté, plus tannique. Super potentiel, avec une énergie incroyable, une grande fraicheur. 93+
