Castle Rock Petite Sirah Russian River Valley

Had this in the cellar for awhile. Was hoping for a more interesting experience. Like others have said, it is a bit understated.

Nose: Lighter than expected, with some decent red fruit. Taste: A bit thin. Nothing very wrong with it, but not much going on either. Little fake taste, which gets more pronounced as it finishes.

Very good QPR petite. Classic deep purple and dark fruit flavors.

Popped and poured. Inky in glass, this wine has a fruity nose. I get an all-encompassing nose of black fruits, red fruits, and even stone fruits.......with blackberry liqueur, raspberry, and apricot leading the way. Medium-plus body, and nicely concentrated......this is a full, jammy wine that has a strong backbone of tannins. Dark red-purple PS color. Basic PS characteristics -- but not overly complex or intense. For a "bargain" PS -- it is quite pleasant. At least as good as some of the more mass-marketed ones. (not that PS is every really that massive of a market, but...)

Thursday Night 5 for $5 (The Grapevine - Pocatello, ID) : Nice dark purple color, with nice cherry and plum nose. Good body, lots of fruit with good balance and a decent finish.
