A nice midweek pour with our use-the-leftovers gnocchi dish (turkey sausage, butternut squash, spinach, mushrooms, sage, and pecorino romano.) Not a perfect match, but not a bad one either. A bit of the tannins are still present, but the fruit seems to have faded somewhat. Maybe I'm just not sure what to expect since I consume very few Dolcettos - but if I had another one, I think I'd drink it before end of this year.

First of 2. Dense, purplish ruby in color. Aromas of blue and black fruits, earth, and a smoky, charred component. A bit of a green, vegetal note too. Medium body, acid, and finish, with flavors of typical dolcetto blueberries, along with blackberry, cassis, and a dry, earthy, leather component through the finish. Tannins are a little drying still, but good with food—worked great with bruschetta chicken. I'll give my second a couple more years just to see.

Consistent with previous bottle but threw off some sediment this time around.

Drank over 3 days. Opened up some to show more than my last bottle. Nice.

Bright crimson color. Fresh nose of purple flowers, black cherry and dark berry fruit with some herbal, earthy undertones. Similar flavors on the palate with a very fresh, lively, juicy mouthfeel. Medium bodied with good acidity. Really enjoyable and versatile with food. $20 is on the high end of pricing for dolcetto for me but this was worth the money.

Completely agree with the previous note on this wine. Seems tight and not at the place that the fantastic 2011 has been at. I will wait a year to check in on this wine.

Doesn't (yet?) have the balance of the delicious '11. The acidity seems elevated and the fruit holding back. I'd cellar these for another year before checking back in.

Deep dark reddish-purple in color. Fragrant & attractive nose of youthful, ripe fruit overtones of cherries & berries, some floral notes, earthy, cedar, dusty, herbs, minerals & a hint of tar. Medium bodied with a good concentration of balanced, smooth textured, youthful, vibrant ripe fruit flavors of cherries & blackberries with earthiness, herbs & minerals. Lingering zesty finish (good acidity). Drinks quite well at present & decanting opens the wine up although it might develop further with a year or …
