Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay

Light tawny to browning rim. Fairly intense tertiary notes of button mushroom, Sous-Bois and stewed black plum. Light body with dry, slightly pinched tannins balanced by fresh acidity. Easy going Pinot with delicate frame, plum fruit and leather.

Tasted over 2 hrs, bottle from secondary market -nearly semi-translucent med dark red mild bricking -generously warm earth ripe dark fruit violet oak -med acidity peaks late, med- weight one-dimensional fading shell of red and dark fruit punctuated by discernible oak and med- tannins, OK length -this has a distinctly Volnay nose but is also remarkable how different this is from the '07 Lafarge Volnay tasted earlier this week highlighting producer styles, #whatiloveaboutburgundy

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs and day 2, bottle from secondary market -nearly semi-translucent med red mild bricking -restrained cool candied red fruits with touch of sweet sousbois; delicate floral herbal and faint oak noticeable on day 2 -med acidity, med/med- weight soft textured faint fading red fruit rhubarb earth, med- tannins; more focused and delicate with a bit more complexity on day 2 -not much complexity this is OK but nothing really stands out, probably no upside from here; …

Le Cap Hotel Restaurant, Barneville-Carteret (Normandy). This was a simple but classically typical PN. Cherry aromas carried forward to the palate with just the right amount of sour balance. Juicy, medium body and length. Good value off the wine list - very good for 2007. Drink over the next year or so.

very disappointing. extremely light (weak) taste - watery. this even after letting sit for an hour.

Took about two hours to suitably open up. Lush, supple, and delicate. Red cherry with some tartness and spice. Crisp with restrained tannins. A very gentle, tasteful touch of oak in the background adds structure. Classic Volnay. Fresh and young; excellent now.
