Domaine Bousquet Malbec Virgen

Dark wine, earthy bouquet and flavors of blueberries and blackberries. Medium body leaning on the light side of medium. Tannins well controlled and enough acidity to make it a lively drink. Very little to be unhappy about! 90.5. Post edit: James Suckling rated this wine a 91.

Very good wine that can be had for less than $10. Easy drinking, fresh tasting, and ready upon opening. Has some body and good flavors, something that anyone could enjoy. The wine looks ruby colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black pepper, cherry and oak. It tastes like black olive, black pepper and cherry. The body is light/medium. The wine finishes short.

It's flavorful, no doubt, but not as savory as it could be. The body has a lot of promise but fades before you can enjoy it and isn't as full as i would enjoy from a cab. But the pallette is wonderful while it lasts.

Did not like this wine. It was too tart.

Retail $15. 100% Malbec. Under screw cap. I have been fortunate to follow Domaine Bousquet over much of the last handful of years and have enjoyed their largely affordable wines. This "Virgen" Malbec is a perfect example; made from organic grapes, this wine exudes plenty of dark red fruit (raspberry, blackberry) in the glass, along with an herbal note (basil, sage).
