Not a very interesting Viognier - I agree with other notes. Not oily, little floral element (although too much is bad too), and pretty one-dimensional.

A very pretty floral wine, nice body and weight, great acidity for viognier, with elderberry notes lingering around

Light yellow; aromatic, floral, banana, lanolin, green apple peel; decent fat, higher alcohol, slightly sweet waxy melon; good but none of the real Condrieu character and minerality that I was hoping for in this "entry level Viognier".

Coming around. Apricot, peach, stone fruit, rich. Minerality taking the place of acidity.

A white interlude. Tasty, some are calling it sweet but I do not agree. Not the mineral pull of the Coteaux, not the price either.

Berry Brothers and Rudd Walkaround Tasting (London) : Sweet nose of apple and pear. Quite different on the palate. Very short, but fresh. Low acidity and very dry. Not that exciting for me. 1 = ok

Hitting the bottle again. Well, I think this is pretty darn amazing. It has that strong mineral tug on the back end that says "great viognier" to me.

Apperently from the very upper slopes of Condrieu. When The Pope blasted out Condrieu in the 60s this part was a little too under-ripe and so when he set up the AOC he had it declassified to VdP. I wonder if he regrets this at that point -- economics or global warming. Didn't lack any ripeness in my opinion and a great pull of minerality and freshness. Overall pretty darn stellar wine.

Light colour. Fragrant of flowers. It is off dry, and floral and balanced. It does not have the oily texture of so many viogner wines.

Similar to last, showing flabby and one dimensional, with just a ghost of the lovely floral minerality I like.

Clean and summery white, a bit flat tho without the floral flamboyant viognier-ness I like.

Pale. Lovely high toned scent without being disgustingly like rose petals. Relatively light, not at all thick and oily like Condrieu. Lively acidity, dry, grapefruit. Excellent, fresh wine for spring/summer drinking. This is the second impressive 2010 Vernay I've had in a week.
