What a great wine ("French country wine," in my book). Lots of red and black fruit, cranberry, mineral and some tannins. Great on its own and better with food. We paid $13: great QPR.

1-hour decant. Dark purple, rusty, translucent appearance. Tons, and I mean tons, of prune on the nose with some dirt/rust. Initially, it hits you with similar flavors to the nose, but then transitions to a very nice sour cranberry with light acid. Medium -bodied to light. The finish is reasonably lengthy. Decent complexity, but probably not for everyone. Good change from so many fruit bombs out there.

Poured it through an aerating funnel straight into the glass and let it sit there for approximately 15 minutes. Color is dark red with a brown (port-like) hue around the rim. Decant, pour and happy Christma-Hanuk-Kwanzaa. Color dark purple verging on black, medium-full body. Nose largely similar to before, loaded with black plums and violets, but also different in that there was no rusty nail/penny or diaper - less complex in general. Deep rich plum and blackberry on the palate, with licorice and earth in the mid and finish. Plum nose transitioned into similar flavor profile but with some other fruits maybe strawberry and blackberry. Not candied fruit flavors but there up front. A bit more earth / spice on mid and end. Great nose right out of the bottles. Plums, violets galore... Throw in a bit of bacon and leather and it made for one of the more exciting aromas I have smelled in a while.
