Arnaldo-Caprai Montefalco Rosso

Last bottle was all tannins and close to undrinkable so a relief that wine would appear to be coming out of a dumb period with fruit again much more to the fore.

Past its prime I'm afraid

Caprai wines can be real treasures. This wine is the "neighbor next door" wine in their lineup. Nice but nothing fancy. I didn't find this overly tannic. The flavor was even throughout with solid fruit notes. It wasn't as strong as some wines you might expect from this region. Beautiful ruby red color in the glass. For the money a solid value.

By memory: Nice wine. Pleasant and present (he he) tannins (will smoothen in a couple of years I guess), nice acidity and somewhat bitter/sour finish. Quite long and solid finish. Nice friut and spices.Good balance. Good value.

Complex and interesting wine with good value. Nose of nail polish (volatiles), spice, hints of fruit, cooling air. Drying tannins, lively acid, and lots of mouth-coating red sour ripe fruit and spice and slightly bitter leather. Finished with pleasant deep sour fruit, mostly at the front of the tongue, framed by a nutty bitter hum and some wood.

Concentrated fruit with hints of licorice - finishes very well; excellent value
