Domaine Denis Mortet Fixin Champ Pennebaut

I agree with most of the last taster's comments about the extracted style and lack of backbone for aging. This wine is certainly pleasing enough with its dark (un-Burgundian!) hues and brooding, dark cherry and chocolate nose. Very smooth and silky on the palate with some red berries and a little alcohol bite on the finish which persists. It is extracted and sweet with soft vanilla tones. Very enjoyable and probably a success for the difficult vintage.

Coming along nicely with some maturing aromas as well as some very dark primary fruit still. Perhaps a bit too extracted for the vintage. Will probably improve for two or three more years but I wouldn't keep it for much longer than that. I prefer his Marsannay.

Rubino di buona intensità e compattezza. Al naso ciliegia, rosa, note animali, cardamomo, sottobosco, goudron, pepe rosa e di Szechuan. Bocca fresca, meno intensa del naso, leggera e gradevole

Pop up and pour. Nose close with a light dry mushroom touch, possibly corked. Mouth initialy light, then in 20min opening to a simple pinot fresh an balanced. Nice simple wine, still a bit corked, but not totally spoiled. I'll keep the others to check what's hidden behind this flaw.
