This has developed in a very positive way. Ten or fifteen years ago it wasn't the most elegant Mosel, but by now its unusual richness, comparatively low acidity and 10% ABV (!) have melted into a rich, mature and fairly harmonious whole, accompanying an apple tart very convincingly.

Bright rich gold Huge melange of smoke, stone fruit, petrol and honey aromas with similar profile on the palate with the addition of a bit of menthol in the finish. Lovely and fascinating. Spatlese+ sweetness with great balanced acidity. Really singing right now

Apples pears spice honey. Really good acidity, length and rounded mouthfeel. Really lovely core of varietal Riesling. Unmistakable. Mosel Riesling is just witchcraft how they taste and age with such light dance of alcohol. The interplay of residual sugar, acid, alcohol and fruit.

a bit too sweet

Vivid golden yellow color. Intense, concentrated flavors of ripe stonefruit, coconut, lime peel and pineapple. Very sweet, almost auslese strength and somewhat overpowering for a main course food pairing.

Peach, slate, pineapple, and nice combo of acidity and sweetness. Medium plus finish and drinking well now or hold for a few years.

Medium gold in colour. Ripe stonefruit and tropical fruit in the nice nose, like mango and pineapple. A fairly ripe, rich sweet style as per the vintage (almost an auslese style), but not cloying. There's honeyed pineapple, ripe pears, apricots and a nice layered texture and finish on this medium-full bodied wine. The wine is just starting to come together, but will have lots of life left (A-).

Disappointed: blowsy, obvious, chubby, imprecise.

Couples dinner on a cold, breezy fall night. (Reno, NV) : Really, really nice right now… aromatically a very nice mix of lime, lemon, stones, petrol, a hint of stone fruit. On the palate very lemony, zippy acids… pushes the limits of medium sweet (45 g/l) for me but that acidity carries the RS so, so well… Great finish that is all about focus and clarity of expression. Great wine that beginning to end is spot on.

This a very rich Spätlese with plenty of botrytis, 10 % alcohol and too little acidity in my opinion -- and probably the only Mosel Spätlese of my experience that I would choose as a foie gras wine. Would probably have been better as an Auslese. The nose is fine though, and it has improved with age.

Nice dark golden color. Explodes with slate, peach, honey, golden delicious apples, and honey on nose. A thick wine with an intense taste of slate, honey, floral, peach, and pineapple. The finish on this wine is sweet but it quickly changes to a sour profile that is very satisfying.

Similar to last bottle - apricots and tropical fruits with some white pear in there. Rich flavors, but light and clean in the mouth (no cloying at all). Hard not to like.

Petrol, mineral, good balance of sweetness and acidity. Opened for a party; disappeared quickly.

the bottle was not memorable, probably wasn't stored properly.

Tropical fruits, apricots in particular. Sunny bright golden colored. Held up well in the fridge over many days. Enjoyed it, but I'm guessing it will get better with some more time.

Light petrol, lots of mango, golden color, I'd buy it again, many times.

Off-dry, bordering on the off rather than the dry. Floral nose with undertones of citrus and honey. Medium bodied but felt a little "heavy". No fizz at all. Little loose on the finish. Pleasant but I felt lacked a bit of balance - short on acidity, long on sweetness. Eminently drinkable on a summer evening, but lacks a bit of freshness that would suit a warm day.

Drank at Lumiere – Earthy nose of petrol, funk and some underlying fruits. Off dry. Full body, medium acidity, medium finish. Tropical fruits flavours. Could use a tad more acidity. Very good.

Light and floral nose, with nice flavors of honey, lime, and spice. Sweetness and acidity seem slightly out of balance--think this lacked the latter a bit. Overall, good wine.

Popped and poured. A touch of frizzante. Pale straw in color. Nose of petrol and a touch of mineral. Fairly full and heavy mouthfeel with nice acidity and medium long finish.

Germany 2006 Report - Terry Theise/Skurnik Tasting (aka the lightning); 6/7/2007-6/11/2007 (Tribecca) : again - its too heavy and just not enough life in it right now. its has all the potential and perhaps it needs time..but the next wine is where it starts to shine
