This opens up beautifully after a few hours of air, unfurling into rich tones of bitter chocolate, dusty notes, black cherries, black raspberries, licorice, dried tobacco leaves, violets, and moroccan spices. The Full bodied feel has an understated power with tart, medium+ acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins that show some coarseness. There is very good complexity but it lacks some depth across the nose and palate. This likely could use a few more years, but it feels like this is …

Best Spanish red I’ve had. I’m no sommelier so I can’t give you all of the wet wool and new can of tennis ball type tasting notes but this was great with pork chops, mashed potatoes and green beans.

Gorgeous wine. Deep raisiny cherry with a sweet spice. Great length with well integrated tannins and balanced acidity. You would never know the wine was 15.5% alcohol. Not hot at all

30 minute decant. Didn't note color. Bright fruit, licorice and black soil with some herbal (herbs, not bell pepper) notes on nose. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins. Long finish. Fruit primary on palate. 91-92 range. Noted "I should buy more."

Second Sunday Group: Priorat (Frank's) : Double blind. Plum and dark fruit notes to open. The palate shows dark fruit, wood and spice with an astringent finish, much like the previous wine. Doesn't change much- somewhat generic/boring. My #6, Domino's #5 Group #4, 54 pts

Just the slightest hint of bricking at the rim - leather, old cigars and dried fruits on the nose. Dense and sweet on the palate, this bottle is much better than the last one I had, the alcohol is better integrated. Still quite tannic, and just on the fresh side of acidic.

Still drinking beautifully at age 10, in a ripe and flamboyant style. Plums, prunes, cherries, spice cake, barbecue spice, and roasted earth. Disappeared in a flash at my son's birthday party.

Amazing. Haven't drank such a powerful wine for a while now which was not an Amarone. Loads of dark, black berries, a touch of chocolate in there too. 15.5% alcohol but not noticeable because the wine retained a freshness despite its power. Great.

Just discernable bricking at the rim, black at the core - alcohol and prunes on the nose. Medium bodied with an excess of alcohol on the palate, slightly sweet with dried plums - this wine does not have the body to take its alcohol level - stewed with slight acetone notes.

Deep, barley transparent color. On the nose, this displays ripe, dark fruits with minerals and oak. This is fairly full bodied in the mouth, with excellent energy and smooth tannins. There is ample fruit and structure as well, and this finishes medium long.

Dark colour with dark bramble fruits, spices and a hint of leather on the nose. On entry, good acidity and more dark fruits silky, smooth and a good medium to long finish. Despite the alcohol content(over 15%) there is very little heat. Excellent entry level wine for this bodega and superb QPR for a Priorato.

(2/5) Spicy, old-world nose with a hint of brett. On the palate, hugely tannic with some nice, dark fruit underneath. A touch hot. IMO this needs a fair amount of time to balance out, although I'm not sure that the fruit will outlive the massive tannins.

Still a dark red with a hint of browning on the edge. I hate to say this (since it will sound like I am trying to be Gary V.), but the nose reminds me of the black cherry Kool-Aid from my youth. There is also a hint of vanilla involved. On the palate, the cherry continues to come through, but there is still a whole lot of tannins going on here. I would say this wine still has a way …
