Excellent South African chenin blanc with a nice crisp clean frontend loaded with lemon and lime citrus. Smoothes out nicely on the midpalate and lasts a decent amount of time on the back of the tongue. Will definitely purchase again.

WSET Level 2 Class 6 (BCIT Downtown Campus, Vancouver, BC) : Tasted blind, screw cap. Clear, pale lemon. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of ripe apple, honey, wax and slight vanilla / oak. Palate is dry, medium+ acid, medium body, with flavours of apple skin, nutty/savoury, mineral. Finish is medium. Good quality in an interesting chenin blanc.

Stellenbosch Chenin Blanc Tasting (Villeira) : (Tasted Blind, Short notes walkaround): Medium lemon in colour. Savoury aromas of lees, Gala apples, Williams pear and grapefruit. Fairly intense the acid is lively and mineral-edged whilst the fruit core is stone and citrus mixed. Long with some oatmeal creaminess, pushing the wine along into some complexity. wood well integrated.

WSET III, part 2; 12/3/2011-12/4/2011 (Portland, ME) : Medium-minus lemon color with narrow rim and some viscosity/legs. Youthful, medium-intensity nose of lemon and toast. Dry, medium-bodied, with medium-plus acidity and alcohol. Medium-plus intensity of lemon, mineral; toasty, smoky. High alcohol. Good. Drink now, potential for aging.

Among the best of the inexpensive South African Chenin Blancs. Fresh, smooth lemon taste predominates without being overly bold. Compared directly with Dry Creek CB, a favorite, and it won hands down. Not as easy to find as Man, Ken Forester, Robertson, etc.

Very nice wine of simple pleasure. Clean taste with hints of pear and melon. Comes off a slightly off-dry. Bouquet of orange blossom and other muted floral notes. Also tasted Chateau d'Epire Savennierre --score 88 -- nice example of "younger" Savenierre. My guess is that this bottling will not last as well as the "Cuvee Speciale" by this producer, but it tasted very fresh and steely dry. Clear minerally taste, but not overwhelming. Slight crisp pear fruit.

Delightfully refreshing. Pale yellow in colour with a hint of green. It is much more tropical and rich than a French Chenin Blanc, but the fruit is clean with only a hint of oak. Slightly off-dry, but with good acidity. Medium bodied for a white wine. Well-balanced and elegant. This would go well by itself or with a spicy appetizer or by itself. A very good QPR. WS gave it an 87, but I give it an 89+.

A very nice chenin blanc, showing melon and, as the previous poster noted, some vegetal qualities -- but not in a negative way. Good acidity, which lends an energetic zip to the wine. Good value.

NSMFOW July 2010--Northern vs. Southern Hemisphere (The Grapevine, Salem, MA) : Medium yellow color. Nose of apples and pears with some lime/grapefruit and alcohol. Similar on the palate. Some minerality. Medium acidity. Solid wine for the price.

Open and chilled 10 hours: Left in glass 30 minutes to warm up slightly. Pineapple, light peach and mineral nose. Medium weight, light acids and carrying some heat in the finish.
