Egon Muller Scharzhofberger Riesling Beerenauslese Eiswein

2017 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/9/2017-11/14/2017 (Villa D’este, Lake Como and Milan) : Incredible complex and energetic nose displaying hedonistic yellow fruit, apricot tart, peach cobbler, creme brulee, honey, a hint of petrol and sweet spices. Wonderfully focused, very precise, D’Yquem like ethereal texture, bright acidity and the finish that never ends. Very noble wine.

Dinner with Egon Müller IV at Daniel (New York, NY) : This wine is much darker than the '88 tasted along side, honey golden in fact. The nose offers botrytis, and dried apricot. This is a hefty and viscous wine with more weight than other Muller wines enjoyed at this sitting. On the pallet dried apricot and mandarin are in balance with the botrytis note. The wine has nice focused acid structure and is very much alive. The finish lasts …

Dark golden in color. Nose of pears with a oily and nutty character. Tastes of orange juice and almonds. Nice acidity. Elegant finish. Beautiful older wine.
