Immediately darker next to the Cathiard of the same plot, touch of reduction, some dark sour cherries, came across as solemn and has that touch of salinity at the back. Another fine example of old Lachaux, rustic and not without charm

Beat the 97 Roumier Bonnes Mares : Old schools winemaking that I love. This didn’t go through the same transformation as the Cathiard because this was solid from the get-go. A bit of barnyard initially which blew away, this was quintessentially Vosne for me. Love these old schools Arnoux’s!

Beat the '97 Roumier BM : Not sure why these old Arnoux get a bad rep, my experiences with them have been consistently excellent. An intoxicating spicy nose similar to the ‘04 RSV and Suchots that I tried previously, palate was more masculine (might have been a brute in its youth) and darker-fruited compared to the Cathiard alongside, but still a very complete and seamless wine.

Lovely nose. Surprisingly full bodied. Black fruits. Slightly imprecise. Nose really strongest part of an overall good wine. No hurry to drink.

A bit closed at first but then opened up really well with the tell tale fragrant Arnoux nose we know from RSV. Cured meat, sour cherry, cedar wood. The palate is on the light side for a 2002. Great showing. 95+

Very young, showing a lot of vintage typical red fruited baby fat, but also a lot of unintegrated oak. Surprisingly modern in character. The 2001 Suchots I drank earlier this year had wonderful Vosne spice, great texture, and didn't show any overt oak signature, so I'm hoping this just needs another 5-10 years to eat the oak and let the terroir show through.

Dark color, barely a hint it's 16 years old. Deep fruit, intense, this is lovely but not as nuanced nor complex as it will undoubtedly be in another decade.

nose - just phenomenal - boysenberry, sexy dark berry, asian spice mouth - impressively complex, on the darker fruited spectrum, long and round. seductive. fruity, sour, and savory all in one. its darker brooding character is unexpected and reminiscent of a barolo. from vines on the southern end, closest to La Romanee (i think). a Wow wine.

Dark but becoming more mature, Got the Vosne spiced cherry pie thing going on. Really well balanced, not too intense. Hit my "4 out of 4 stars" on the Gulpably Delicious indicator. Love this bottling from Arnoux. Really delicious and in a great place now. Can drink or hold.

Deep ruby color. Tons of Vosne spice, black cherries, smoke, sweet with balanced acidity. A long hauler but totally approachable now with some air. Solid wine.

Champagne and Burgs #1 : Dark blackish-red color. Awesome nose with dark fruit, baking spice, coffee and a subtle barnyard funk. On the palate this is packed with flavors of dark fruit and some oak. Flavors are a bit closed/compact on the palate, but what's there is delightful. Just enough structure/acidity to balance out the fruit and keep this feeling elegant. The finish is long and satisfying. These should be great with 3-5 more years in the cellar.

Brilliant, clear ruby color. Nose of floral elements (violets, rose petals), black and red fruit. Taste of tightly wound-up, restrained red & black fruits, great balance, very extended finish, with great finesse and delineation. Brooding reticent powerhouse that required dramatic coaxing to expose fruit, and still not expressive.
