Cruse Wine Company Syrah Heintz Vineyard

Kind of a bummer… I had such high hopes for these syrahs after a couple great experiences with earlier vintages soon after release. This reads as a glou glou natty wine. It’s ok, but there’s nothing here than says “syrah”, particularly. I left this in cellar to see if any evolution after trying a couple over the years, but still nothing doing. For what it’s worth, per earlier reviews, I don’t get much carbonic flavor, and whatever spritz was there …

decant to blow some of the fizz off. if you're looking for a buzz cut and a clean shave, look elsewhere. this is more of a mullet + mustache look. enjoy.

Corked

Second bottle had notes consistent with the first. Not loving the fizziness or the carbonic notes.

Not clear if my bottle was sound. Slightly fizzy and lots of carbonic notes. Underlying fruit was clean and pure, though. Two more bottles left, so judgment reserved.

BBQ and Wine (Chez Whitehead - Northbrook IL) : Ripe and extremely fun with intriguing spice, just too jammy, sweet and precocious for now.

All whole cluster. No sulfur. Spicy and green and still has a great mid palate.
