Tasted over 2 hrs -inky nearly opaque dark purple -very uniquely bizarre nose of parmesan rind and epoisses with a little mushroom, no discernible fruit -med/med- acidity, med+/full-bodied weight, just a hint of violet plum dark fruit peeks out of a strong soil signature and prominent med+/high tannins, perhaps a bit of cardboard/wet basement -one of the strangest aromas I've ever encountered in a wine, first time tasting this so not sure if it is flawed with either some weird …

Solid wine. Decanted two hours but probably wouldn't need it. Classy nose that seems timid relative to the mouthfeel. Surprisingly driven by red fruit with a dominant strawberry note backed by hedgerow fruit (blackberry rather than blackcurrant). There is a very gentle touch of baking spices. Very balanced structure with a medium body and fairly soft medium + tannin. This would be a great choice for a serious summer BBQ.

Ruby colour, red cranberry, cherry , dried red berry , floral violet , hints of earthly aroma, high tannin, fully body, high acidity, very powerful prune flavour on palate with star anise at the back. Dried strawberry after taste. 10 mins in glass, strong prune aroma Remarks - Grape : Aglianico is a red wine grape now thought to be native to southern Italy. It produces full-bodied red wines that show musky berry flavors with firm tannins and good aging …

The wine is clear, medium intensity and ruby in colour with brick red rim. The palate is clear, medium plus intensity with primary aromas of black cherry and spiced plum, white pepper. The Wine Society: Taste the new list. Brief notes: Restrained nose. Soft and plump with lots of red fruits. Quite a simple style - nice grip and a little floral lift on the finish.

Interesting. Stewed red berries for me. And almost something saline with this wine. Notable tannins. I'd like to try this again.

When we were first introduced to Aglianico del Vulture at an Italian restaurant we liked it and I have sought it out since. This one didn't do much for me, rather nondescript fruitiness with a herbal touch. Nothing the matter with it but nothing to make me want a second glass. Served with Pitmaster Porchetta (Low and Slow 2), Fennel al Forno (David Tanis Market Cooking) and Asparagus with Garlic and Ginger Butter (The Really Quite Good British Cookbook). A …

Fruit Day - Garnet in glass out to a light garnet edge. Nose of sweet red florals, almond, blackberry and black currant. The palate is silky at first but then the ripe tannins grip lightly to keep it savoury and interesting. Flavours of red fruit, spice,, red florals and red currants. There’s a lovely bitterness on the back palate giving it definition and length. The finish is long with the red fruit and perhaps some tobacco (?) and spice lingering. …

Red fruit, herbs and funky stone cellar on the nose. Iron and earth comes through in the finish. There are some interesting aspects to this wine and the high acidity hints at some improvement from further cellaring.
