Quite deep red for an 11 year old Barbaresco, no garnet colour. Sour cherry and tar on the nose, earthy, but bitter (over extracted?) and the finish is rustic, green and pretty rough. Basically not enough fruit to carry, and if this is grown on teh finest slopes of Treiso & B'sco as the label proclaims, well, for a 2004 this is pretty shoddy winemaking... suspect it will only get rougher with age.
