On the nose blue fruit. Tasting blue and black fruit, baking spice with some vanilla, and a bitter green pepper on the finish. Still some tannins present with only slight bricking.

Heavy nose, terroir notes of chalk, oak, fresh morning dew. Blackberry fruits, low acid. Very palatable and delicious. It was only bottle in the cellar wish I had more but for a 20yr old cab it was excellent.

Tasted at Mondavi dinner. Paired excellent with a steak and drunk alongside younger and older vintages (10 years difference). Still developing, but getting structurally soft. Drink in the next 5-6 years.

Blue fruit, stewed black fruit, a hint of pyrazines (which i don’t mind), decent acidity, and tannins that haven’t quite disappeared.

Well I wish I’d have saved this bottle, our last, to share with friends as it would have turned some heads. Decanted off its sediment and served with Flannery strips thirty minutes after the cork was pulled. Pours a youthful dark color. Notes of black currants, black cherry and spice with hints of rare beef and anise. Fully resolved at this stage and impeccably balanced. Wonderful black cherry and dark fruit- black currant, licorice and herb flavors. Drinking beautifully right …

Immediately ready upon opening. Ripe, kirsch-y notes of dark cherry with a touch of pencil shavings and coffee.

Drinking well for a 14 year old $18 bottle. Best bottle yet. Good fruit, some complexity. Enjoyed with pizza. Drink up.

Big nose, fruit forward, blackberry, cassis, slightly tannic, long legs, very full bodied, Semi dry. Great with steak. Seems to be a good time to crack it open.

My last of 14 bottles and was drinking the best of all. One of the all time best values in Napa cabernet if you can get it at discount pricing.

Had at restaurant, Decanted tableside. No significant sed.No significant bricking. Represented well as a modern style Cali cab. No flaws, mild tannins, gave good structure. Alive and well tonight, good with food.

Agree with notes from BAM_MAN, perfect description from what we tasted, paired great with peppercorn NY strip steaks. Definitely needed time to open up, but I do think this is about peaked and won't likely get much better with more age.

A deceptively youthful-looking, semi-opaque magenta in the glass - lightening just at the very edge. Initially tight and austere, this needed a good 90 minutes of air before it finally showed its best. Very expressive and pretty on the nose, offering powerful scents of crushed dark berries, Napa earth and exotic spice. Medium-to-full bodied and so silky in texture. Still shows a surprising abundance of ripe, delicious plum, blackberry and dark currant fruit with very good depth and focus. Not …

Balanced cab showing fruit with the sweetness and exuberance of its Napa origin, with lead pencil to give this a Left Bank Bordeaux feeling as well. Very good for the money.

Sultry and sumptuous in style, this conveys a gorgeous bouquet of mountain berries, forest floor, mint, conifer, cedar, and elegant bottle age. Rich, deep, and long in the mouth, with melted tannins, a beautiful middle sweetness, and flavors that are generous, broad, and expansive. Seamless, complex, and sexy. 93++

Much improved over the last year. The alcohol impression's backed off and the wine is balanced with comfortable maturing flavors. Probably about peak but should hold here for years. Would estimate's it's outer drinking about 2021.

Popped and poured. Black fruit and cassis forward, with integrated tannins and acid. Huge nose. Color inky that held throughout 2hr dinner. Enjoyed with BBQ'd ribeye. Long finish easily 45 seconds. Held up throughout dinner. Coated mouth, a bit jammy. Not earthy or musty typical of vintage Mondavi Cabs. Peaking, no room to improve. Drink now. Very good year for Mondavi. Terrific bottle for the price $35.

Surprisingly youthful, this was popped & poured and pretty tight. Cassis and black fruits with just a hint of cedar underneath. The palate follows with medium tannins and flavors of plum, kirsch and cassis. Three bottles left which will continue rest for a few more years.

It's not improving since earlier last year (and others before that). It's Mondavi, but feels a bit rustic, not like Mondavi Oakvilles I'm accustomed to.

Big rich and ripe Cal Cab. Youthfully dark reddish purple color and heady nose of black cherry, blackberry and chocolate. Best to decant--needs air to let the fruit and alcohol come into balance--smells and tastes a bit too potent right off the bat.

A boire.

Pleasing sweetness with resolved tannins on what one feels might have once given more promise than it now actually delivers. Nothing wrong with this wine, in fact a more than suitable accompaniment to simple grilled steaks, and agree with previous notes of a dark-fruited maybe blueberry jam sensation. Not massively long or complex, nothing to complain about, competent, but did not over-deliver. Drink-up.

Deep garnet color with just a hint of brick red that lets you know this is an older wine. Aromas of dark fruit and vanilla on the nose. Tannins are still present - but are well integrated into the wine. Medium mouth-feel with a slightly abbreviated finish - but still drinking nicely for a 9 year-old, $25 bottle of wine. Paired well with grilled beef tenderloin steaks.

9 years in the bottle and i have to say it ages well, even though this is just the napa entry wine. surprisingly fresh, hidden tannins, great and dark fruit. No wonder I continue to spend $15 on this wine and set it down for years. Highly recommended.

This, the most ripe of any past vintage. Deep dark purple; almost blackish in opacity. Initially, nearly over-ripe scents of macerated plums and blackberry kirsch. Amazing entry with dark chocolate and licorice. Finishing long with chalky tannins. Hardly a hint of the hard-edged austerity that characterizes this bottling when first released. An hour in and the ripeness has disappeared; replaced with the aromatics of a Napa Cab of lofty pedigree. I will continue to buy a 1/2 case of this …
