Quite good and simple, aged well, was probably expecting a little bit more complexity

5 years since I last had a bottle. Charms of youth reduced, and my guest and I both felt it needed a bit more time to come out.

Tasted at the domaine. Wonderful balance of freshness and concentration. Red and dark forest berries. Some savoury elements add complexity. Somewhat grippy tannins. Good aging potential, I would think. A wonderful expression of the grape and terroir.

Ripe red fruit, pencil shavings, a hint of green bell pepper, some smokiness. Clean and fun!

Bordeaux-like texture. Perfect extraction. Light, yet concentrated. Not dense, not overripe. A touch of oak spice that really has to be coaxed out seals the deal here. Very, very small note of Bret that blows away in a few minutes. All things which add to complexity.

Mi Pente is Jacky Blots top wine. I was very eager to try this wine from the 2021, but it somehow showed a fruit profile I didn’t like. A little too cooked for my taste. A little clumsy and VERY intense - maybe a bad vintage?… I’d much rather prefer his lighter (and cheaper) Haut de la Butte. That being said this is still a good glass of wine.

First Middle Loire Cab Franc and oh, do I want more! Initially biting tannins that resolved after 45 minutes of the bottle being open. On the nose barn and cherries; then a palate of blueberries, cherries, leather, tobacco and meatiness. Concentrated without over-extraction, raw without any flaws. Enjoyed with grilled chicken and pork and good friends. This wine is ready to drink at three years and has a strong life ahead

Un cab-franc classique, profond avec une bonne dose de fruits noir, belle touche végétal, acidité moyenne, c'est très bon dans le moment mais va sans doute bien vieillir.

Young, bouquet of blackberries, tobacco, tar. The tannins are firm but without edges and there’s a rustic side to the fruit along with green, earthy flavors. Very good lift, freshness. Very good wine for the table, but will be better in 3-5 years and live a lot longer. With Jesper in BeF.

Nose: Sweet cherry, dirty dark chocolate, potting soil with a hint of detritus. Palate: Mildly tart blackberries and brewer's yeast, faint mango, grippy tannins; delicious and so easy to drink. Happily surprised with this wine as I found both the 'Le Haut de la Butte' and the 'Le Pied de la Butte' from this vintage to be underwhelming.

Has the potential to be great! Everything fills a little out of place upon opening but a bit of air and patience nudged it in the right direction. Everything about it is a bit young still but the concentration and finesse are nonetheless palpable, great work by Jacky and Jean-Philippe once again!

Drinking pretty well, good blackcurrant fruit, only a bit of green leafiness, drinking better in night 2 so it could improve

Nez serré de poivron et baies noires. Un peu fermé avec des tanins encore serrés. 87. regoûté le lendemain : s’est bien aéré et a atteint un équilibre très convaincant malgré une longueur un peu verte 91.

There’s enough fruit here to make this pleasurable now, ripe blackcurrants, just a touch of capsicum some fine grained tannins, should develop nicely with a few more years and last for longer

Definitely not ready but I couldn’t resist trying my first Jacky Blot. Blackcurrant and Raspberry fruit, rich and very juicy. Peppery on the tongue with firm but pleasant tannins. Should be spot on in 5 years time.

I tried the 2016 in the Summer, so I thought I'd try the 2015. Still young but eminently drinkable now. Double decanted. Unlike the 2016 no funk on the nose, but spicy herbaceous-ness and what I can only describe as red meat! With a swirl the glass is dripping with legs. Bit muted on the palate with lovely crunchy tannins that are softening. Bit of funk on the palate. Dark, cherry like fruit on the aftertaste. Yum. On initial tasting …

Decanted for about an hour. Surprisingly easy to drink now, plenty of ripe and juicy black cherry and blackcurrants, some back tea and a touch of green leaf, the fruit hides the tannins which come through on the finish. Very good

On first opening, my first impression was of mouth-filling and intense raspberries. Shortly hints of blackcurrant, cherry, and tea came out. With longer time, the morello cherry overtook the raspberry as the principal flavour, and the tea on the after-taste strengthened too. Intense, long and mouthfilling, but fairly light-bodied. There are tannins apparent on the finish, but they are sufficiently well-covered I didn't find them at all obtrusive. I think this is already great to drink, and interesting to be …

Light violet with magenta-ruby tinge, some transparency. Nose red fruited, tobacco leaf and herbal, very nice. Palate red fruited, appealingly refreshing light body yet obviously given the year/vintage some nice density to the fruit. Very smooth almost seamless very faintly chalky tannins on finish. A very satisfying drink, wonderful weekday pour, very good with beef stew

A private dinner (Restaurant As, Amsterdam, NL) : Sweet black cherries, fresh but ripe style with ditto tannins, lovely vegetal and peppery notes without any underripeness, hint of earth. Will continue to develop well.

Relativt lukket. Noe kirsebær pepper, anis og hint av paprika på duft. Middels fyldig, frisk og saftig frukt med ganske tight tanninstruktur. Mørke kirsebær, pepper, anis, sjokolade og en viss animalsk tone i bakgrunnen.

This was incredibly rich and impressive at an en-primeur tasting event nearly 2 years ago. Still showing great promise but primary fruit is beginning to subside and at this point it is probably best to keep it. Needs some air for sure. Coravin sample begins to opens up a little after 20-30 min in the glass. I'd be leaving my other bottles in the cellar for another 7 years. Drink 2025-2031.

Definitely young. The first night, a yeasty/mealy aspect to the nose along with ripe boysenberries and plush dark red cherry. Quite monolithic on the palate. Hmm. Not as impressed as I usually am with this cuvée. Second night, the fruit turned snappier with green herb, tobacco and leafiness added to the mix. This is more like it. Great qpr but needs a couple of years in the cellar. Score is for second night.

Weekly tasting group #220; A mixed set fully blind tasted. (@ PvdV) : Primary bouquet with cherries, raspberries, yoghurt and bell pepper. Same on the palate. Ok acidity, slightly sticky tannin and some bitterness in the finish. Still too young. Wait until 2021+. 86 - 87+
