Franciscan Estate Zinfandel

Like sipping on vanilla candy. Lots of butterscotch. NOT past prime. All that new oak is keeping it very much alive. Tastes more like a port than a Napa zin. The oak tannins grip my mouth and coat like a butterscotch candy. Interesting how this showed up from a friend at my door tonight while I was working on a Chianti Classico Riserva.

The bottle was a little past it's prime, but nice none the less. Medium jammy smell, spice and jam on the palate. Short finish. Nicely done but not fruit forward. Probably best to lay 5 to 7 years max.

Honestly, I don’t remember this wine well. I didn’t make a good note of it.
