Theme was “Open that bottle (back-up required)”. The CT drinking window on this closed in 2012, which was the last time we opened one. This was our last bottle, and I think CT missed the window. Dark garnet, just a bit of brick at the edge. Complex nose, dark fruit, earthiness and some leather. Palate was alive, lots of fruit left, still some tannin, good balance. Long finish. Might have been wine of the night. Despite other notes, still has …

Naso molto elegante con frutta rossa dolce e succosa, tabacco, carbone, menta, macchia mediterranea. Sorso delicato, fresco e rilassato ma non privo di energia. Tannino risolto e finale deciso e succoso.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #065; Italy: Sardinia (By EvA) : Carmine brown color. Mature but not unpleasant bouquet. There are currants, plums and figs in the somewhat sweet bouquet. On the palate a lot of chocolate, also some coffee, sweetness, soft tannin and a bit drying bitterness. The wine is quite mature but still ok. I see there are still 73 bottles in the CT users cellars. If the bottle I tasted was exemplary, I advise you to drink it …

Decanted for 2 hours. This is very ripe on the nose with lots of blackcurrants, mint, ripe prunes and subtle oak. On the palate, this wine is all about balance. It's medium-full bodied with nice gentle tannins, velvety texture, excellent acidity and long aftertaste. It seems to have more than 12.5% alcohol. This wine claims for food and paired fantastically well with oxtail stew. Superb!! 92+ Drink now to 2014.

Decanted for ~2 hours. Dark deep ruby with lightening edge. Black fruit, leather notes. Definitely old world cab. Good structure. May last a few more years.

Decanted for about 1 hr than back in bottle for 7. This took a little more time to show it's true colors -I was surprised at the beginning at how soft and easy this was. As the evening progressed it developed more and more Characteristics that reminded me of right bank Bordeaux yet it also had a distinctive character on the finish,. While there were secondary flavors here i think that there is further room or more aging. Tasty and …

Darn fine! This wine was very good after 2 hours of air and even better stoppered and tasted the next night. It's all about the elegance--lovely color, enticing aromas, and smooth and lingering tastes.

I'd like to call this a delightful surprise, but I'd read about it and knew it by reputation even if I hadn't had one before. This particular specimen was in perfect and peak condition, courtesy of Steve, who tracked it down at a state store in Pennsylvania a few years ago. Really just a pleasure to drink, surprisingly understated but at the same time fully expressive, with an invitingly forward nose of cassis and light toast, and gentle herbal notes …

Peaking now. Nose of prunes with hints of figs, coffee, rhubarb and gentian, ironlike perfumes and sea breeze. The mouth is quite round, silky tannins a little diluted perhaps but drinking perfectly, prunes return on the medium lenght finish.

Currant, earth, leather, chestnut, and toast nose. Dry and spicy with a very good flavour profile; long, toasty, nutty finish. 4.5/5
