From a 7ha estate in Bégadan, this is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet-Sauvignon, manual harvest, 35 year old vines, barrique aged. Light colour; earth and some wood on the nose, hint of red cherries; on the palate there is some juicy fruit, but the finish is really dry and tight and is dominated by a note of liquorice. I guess that they did what they could, but today this ended up in the Bordelaise sauce.
