Luigi Oddero Barolo

8yrs old when opened, so still young. Garnet color translucent. Bouquet after 4hrs open floral and herbaceous. Tannins have surprisingly shady softened. Full bodied, balanced, and structured. Red fruits with background of umami like sauerkraut. Long finish. Great wine even at such a young age.

Quite pleasant. Garnet red with some early brick notes. Roses, tar/asphalt/licorice-notes, some sandalwood, red fruit. Grippy but pretty integrated tannins. Not a powerhouse and might benefit from a few more years but pleasant enough today. Glass: Riedel Vinum NW Pinot. Coravin over 2 weeks.

Smells like blueberry muffins. Medium bodied, good acidity and soft but grippy tannins. Doesn't have the typical floral fragrances of a great Barolo, but a lovely bottle. Fruit develops over time.

LOL…the numerical rating for this wine on CT is criminally low so take that with a massive grain of salt. My experience (FWIW) suggests otherwise. Presented double-blind at Tasting Group. The wine pours a garnet color with a slightly watery rim and a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with notes staining of the tears. Très joli parfum typique Nebbiolo, floral, fruits rouges. Tanins encore présents qui vont bien en mangeant. Un joli vin!

As classic a young Barolo as one could hope for. Perfect ‘tar and roses’ nose jumps from the glass and keeps giving throughout. For €60 in a Capri restaurant this was just great. Obviously you have to be up for the bite of the young tannins and food is essential.

Immediately expressive with aromas of rose petal, cherry, licorice and raspberry. It is full, rich and heady, with good depth and ripe tannins buried for now. It is certainly accessible now but there's good material upon which to age further.
