very nice wine. developed, still mature yellow almost exotic fruit, a bit of oak. acidity and minerality on a low side compared to saint aubin or chassagne. good balance.

2006 vintage

Pale straw color, feint nose of apples & citrus. Fruit somewhat faded, still with lots of minerality & acidity creating somewhat of an imbalance. Mostly minerals on the moderately long finish. Nothing special here, though the wine showed more longevity than expected

Premiture oxidation, suffered with last 5 bottles drunk 2012-13, from original case of 12. I also have the 2007 in my cellar which is still holding up fine, poor batch of 2008??

2008 vintage

Medium gold in color with long legs. Light lemon and pear on nose. Smooth round mouthful of lemon, pear, and minerals-wet limestone. Long warm finish that long over a minute. Flavors persisted as I worked in the kitchen. Wonderful wine!

Bottle showing signs of oxidation, deepening lemon gold appearance. Nose & palate holding up though. Presume just a bad bottle at this stage, but will drink up remaining few now.

2002 vintage

Ripe fruit on nose, showing a trace of age for its youth, but plenty of power and spice. Drinking really well today with very good minerality, less perceived acidity than I expected. I will have to try another bottle soon to see if this bottle is representative or unusually advanced.

unlike kvm's, my bottle was not fading. yellow color with no hints of oxidation. lemon on the palate with some mineral. alcohol is a little amped for my preference, but not high. solid wine for the price of 40.

Golden. Baked pears, hint of acetone. Restrained lemon, toasted nuts in th emouth. Sound but fading.

Popped and poured. Clear, lemon gold color, medium to medium plus intensity. Nose of lemon, pronounced wet stone/minerality, stone fruit. Very aromatic, even right out of the fridge. Palate the same, lemon much more intense. Dry, medium plus acidity, medium plus body, no tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus finish. A well rounded beautiful example of a Macon Chard. An excellent value, highly recommend.

The oldest vines of la Soufrandiere, hand picked, aged 40-80 years, Great nose, medium concetration of tropical fruit, long elegant finish.

2008 vintage

Tasting beautifully now. Great color, nose on the honeysuckle, vanilla, yet fresh and mineral, and long, round, fresh in the mouth. Quite good value for money (£25 at Berry Bros in London)

no problems with this lovely just getting it on aging white burgundy. sorry i drank it so soon due to pressure from the locals...

2002 vintage

The best wine in the Bret Bros. and soufrandiere range tasted today; on the nose, a little more toast and generous fruit than the other wines. The balance is pleasing, with good intensity and acid; skewing a bit on the acidic side, but overall, quite balanced and quite good. A bit broad and coarse, not as fine as high level burgundy but good for a Pouilly-Vinzelles.

LdC Top Volnay Shootout (Custom House) : Medium pale yellow color. MEdium caramel hazelnut nose. sour lemon on the palate with a touch of bitterness. Showing more evolved and less energy than the Millerande cuvee.

Top Volnay Producers and Vineyards 1971-2006 (Custom House Tavern - Chicago IL) : Tasted double blind. Clearly past its peak, showing modestly interesting ripe fruit, roasted nuts, not quite enough acidity.

Tasted with several other Burgundies inc. grand cru Chablis and premier cru Chassagne which this wine surpassed. It has yellow colour now, and very fragrant pear and citrus. Fairly rich and viscous, hints of caramel under the fruit. refreshing finish

I'm a little afraid lately when I pull a white Burgundy with any age at all. Call it fear of the premox. Anyway, not a problem at all with this wine. This was very thick and full in the mouth with loads of lemon custard. There's no shortage of mouth watering acid here. Much more open and complex than my last bottle. This is stunning stuff, especially for the appellation and price. Very mineral and precise, with notes of wet gravel and lemon. This would not be out of place in a tasting of premier cru Meursaults.

This reminded me of a Varner Chardonnay in terms of its aroma and flavor profile with a bit less concentration throughout. The nose and overall balance are noteworthy but this was not a wow wine and @$40 not exactly a QPR in my book. (No formal notes.)

Durham Offline (Bistro 21, Durham) : Medium white. Caramel aplles, some oxidation. Spicy, quite mineral. Savannieres? Certainly seems like a Chenin Blanc, but apparently not. Lots of oak in here, too much. After being revealed and with a bit more air this is obviously chardonnay - the oxidative and chenin aromas seem to have blown off. Far, far too much oak for me. **

Understated, perhaps slightly shut down right now. Balanced, pure, very mineral. Great value. I would wait about a year before opening another.

sliping down the backside of its life...if you like aged chard for its complexity this one still has some enjoyment but nearing the end

I was looking for something with a little more acidity to go with the tart, and I probably should have known better. But this is an excellent wine, clean, full, good fruit, minerality, nice balance, nothing to complain about. Perhaps a little shy on acidity. I had a hard time really deciding how much new oak was actually in this. I would not hesitate to age this, at least for a while.

this wine just gets better and better. the deep hue and rich nose is belied by a wine that's as light on its feet and tangy as it rich and long. great stuff.

Deep and bright gold color; rich nose of tropical fruits and green apple. Med-full bodied on the palate, very fruit driven with a rich, long, clean finish. Showed a bit more overt oak and vanilla than I recall upon release, detracting (to my palate) from an otherwise excellent bottle.

Very aromatic, acacia flower, marzipan and ripe apple nose. Texture is a bit thick, like half and half. Good fruit flavors, pear and a little honeycomb. Some minerals towards the end. A good acidic spine kept this vibrandt and kept the rich texture and flavors fresh and interesting. I really enjoyed this a lot, could have easily mistaken this Macon wine as a better Cote de Beaune. Washington wine offline with Chris Cook (Bellevue, WA) : It was nice to find a French white amidst the sea of Washington. Clean, well-balanced and showing nice minerality and acidity, there is nothing to dislike here. Unfortunately, there isn't a ton to like either. I found it to be fairly simple without much vibrancy, no fireworks, sort of a let-down after the nice initial notes.

Very pretty wine, nice, good fruit and good mineral, April didn't think as much of it as I did, didn't have the creamy richness of Aubert but was pretty fair; not a lot of licorice to go with Taragon a la DuMol, but still, all in all, tasty juice.

Straw color. Soft, mineral nose. Hints of talc, honey and lemon. Touch of smoky oak. Wonderful soft, lucious mouthfeel. Taste of cookie dough, butter, candied lemons, minerals, . Tremendous chardonnay varietal character. Wonderful balance with a long finish. Despite the soft palate, the wine never tastes fat. It also never lets the strong acid take more than a secondary role.
