Weekly tasting group RWP #325; North and the Centre of Italy (@ VD) : Beautiful, complex and expressive bouquet with tobacco, smoke, leather, vanilla and other sweet spices. On the palate firm cherries, autumn impressions, good acidity, firm, still drying tannin and a good length. This is a 2007 which will probably benefit with a few more years of ageing. 92 - 93

Still too young, plenty life ahead of it. I wonder if the somewhat dry tannins will evolve in the end. Firm grip and nice length.

A bridge between modern and traditional. The color is a pure garnet with almost no bricking. Aroma jumps from the glass on pouring; orange peel, clove, burnt wood spice, vanilla, medium body, soft round mouthfeel, medium plus finish. Excellent balance and plenty of tannin for aging but drinking beautifully right now. Exceptionally well made top shelf Barolo!

Dark brick, beautiful aroma of red fruits and herbs. Tannins were there but subtle. Very balanced after 1hr in the decanter. Hint of violet but the florals I was hoping for never emerged, needs a few more years and it will gain a couple points. Decant for ~2hrs and eat with food to fully appreciate at this stage. We had this with Lamb Bolognese and it was lovely.

Medium red, not brilliant. Nose is mineral spirits and pine. In the mouth it is plum, cherries and quite intense.

Herbs, dates and liquorice. Drinkable, rather big and dry.
