I also wanted to like this more than I did, although an 88 rating is hardly shabby. Was a very enjoyable dinner wine; on the plus side can really taste what each of the three varietals contribute (Cab 48%, Syrah 34%, Tempranillo 18%). It did seem that the way this was blended the three varietals (particularly Cab and Syrah) competed against each other, rather than brought harmony, if that makes sense...almost like a puzzle that did not quite fit, but …

An improved showing. Better integrated, more harmonious and balanced. The winery offers several other wines of equal quality at more affordable price tags.

Wanted to like this more than I did. It is well very well made, but the blend didn't quite seem to work; acid and structure could have been a little better as well. It is a serious wine, but just doesn't quite standup to the more affordable 2012 Meritage.
