Kirkland's Malbec proves worthy time and time again... and even better if you let it age a bit.

In a word...Boring. There is nothing wrong with this wine, with hints of blueberry and blackfruit, but it is flabby and not very interesting.

Good for everyday drinker, goes well with meat from the grill. Value wine, so not a long finish, but pleasant on the nose leads to a middle of the road Malbec.

Very simple and flat -- not much going on with this bottle. Decent at the price point, but you can still do better for Malbec in the low $10s.

A great malbec for the price! Dark fruit on the nose and palate with some vanilla there, too. A definite keeper and need to get more.

Enormous browned butter aroma and flavor that overpowered all other characteristics. Not sure if the bottle was flawed or if the wine was just afflicted from the start. Maybe partially oxidized and/or it went through a troubled malolactic fermentation? Either way, I will be avoiding this bottle.

Better than expected for a Costco brand. Fruity and decent for the price although it could be fuller in the mouth.

Nice nose of dark red berries, but thin across the palate.

Very pleasant Malbec with notes of dark berries and sweet spice. Has a nice medium balanced finish. We drank 2 Kirkland wines back-2-back over four evenings (Old Vine Zin first), and this Malbec second. Although we quite enjoyed the Zin, the Malbec was even better, and we will be purchasing more for everyday drinking.

Despite the Kirkland name, this could be a good daily drinker. Lacks the complexity of the higher end, but good PVR.

First Malbec. I liked it and plan to buy more. Only negative and this is minor, not sure about the mouthfeel after the fact. Wife thought it was strong but listed at 13.5%. Opened an hour ahead of time.

Fontodi Blindtasting 1990-2008 (Tom's House, Palo Alto, California) : Very dark red violet color; sweet green herb, green olive, tart raspberry nose; tart currant, sweet berry palate, a little disjointed with a small amount of RS; medium finish

Not as good as I anticipated being a Kirkland red. Price was inexpensive which helped way the taste a bit. The Kirkland cabs and zins have my vote over the malbec any day. Still glad i tried it to see the difference.

Tasted over two days - consistent throughout. Very primary and grapey. At least it wasn't overoaked!
