Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Premiere Napa Valley

Disappointing at fifteen plus years. Tired. Mature, tertiary notes. Lots of stewed and cooked red and black fruits. Tannin is definitely present; unfortunately, the acidity seems to be fading. Lacks zip and energy. Beginning to worry about the longevity of some of these “higher end” Napa Cabs after 15+ years….this isn’t the first one that I’ve recently noted is very tired at 15+ years. Throwing lots of sediment.

Pound per pound Behringer Private preserve is my favourite wine. This is so good. Drank out of a magnum. I have one left. Hopefully I can let it last a decade.

Fantastic bottle, definitely at its peak. Double decant with approx 45min before drank. Very tight when first opened bottle but drank beautifully. Good earth notes, with rich deep typical Napa cab profile.

wow. this is in an awesome place right now. decant for 30 min and just brilliant. strawberry, blueberry and blackberries, fruit, tobacco, sage, eucalyptus, it kept evolving over 4 h what a ride. tannins are perfect, finish is great. This was a fantastic bottle

Aging gracefully and probably in a great drinking window, but will last another 5-8 years. Black fruit, cedar, spice, cassis, cedar, herbal notes, tannins well integrated, lots of secondary notes in the herbal notes like dried spices, maybe sage. There is also some candied notes of fruit. A (94)

Decanted for 2+ hours and consumed over about 90 minutes. Well developed subtle fruit-toward, strawberries and ripe currant with soft blueberry notes. Not a jammy fruit bomb despite a nose and presentation that lends itself to less sophistication and more fruit up front. Excellent mouth feel and a well balanced finish. Very drinkable. Loads of ripe strawberry and blueberry. A touch of sweetness but not off putting. Very elegant and overall solid wine. Good to drink now (with 30 min+ decant helped) but long life ahead.

Delicious well aged Cab enjoyed for a special occasion. Decanted for 3 hours w/the wine continuing to open up getting better & better. Plenty of secondary flavors present along w/a solid fruit presence. Enjoy if you have a bottle of this special wine.

This wine is a bit closed and primary. Dark red fruit, spice, tobacco, and earth is vibrant with dense tannin still needing time to round out. This wine is in the stage where it is transforming from a young bruiser into older age elegance. Hold until 2026 or later

See previous notes. Cork was a little stained on the sides but otherwise extremely similar notes to previous bottles. I really enjoyed this and have another ten from a 15 bottle auction purchase. The consistency on this has been good bottle to bottle.

Wonderful wine. This is from their Howell Mountain vines and I must say that I love HM fruit. The wine is quite forward in fruit and just filled with creamy notes. Mid pallete is cassis and ripe mulberry fruits. Finish is more rich black fruit with some fully extracted blueberry fruit on the finish. Cabernet nearly at its best.

Dark and deep purple and black in color. Bordeaux like qualities and structure at this stage. Secondary notes dominated more than the fruit. The wine was smooth and provided a small hint of earth and forest floor on the nose. Decanted and strained as the bottle spit off sediment everywhere. A good solid performance for this one. See previous tasting notes. Beautiful nose and long finish. On the palate, it had complexity with notes of chocolate, dark black fruit with a hint of spice on the finish. This was showing magnificently tonight. Glad I have a significant amount more to continue to enjoy.

Not my kind of wine. Warm, friendly dark fruits with a marked touch of vanilla from the oak that cannot entirely hide a clear fingerprint from the rather high alcohol level. Two hour decant. Typical cab nose of cassis, bell pepper and dark fruit. Complex palette of dark fruits, licorice, leather and minerals. This will probably last at least another ten to fifteen years. While not cheap, it is a reasonable bargain among high end napa cabs. Was the wotn for a few at the party. Impressive wine. 94+

A top flight Cabernet with some great fruit. Still had a great tannin and fruit structure. I think this could go another 5-10 years easily. Great nose and wonderful dark red and a hint of black fruit on the palate. I was extremely pleased as were most who tasted it tonight.

I opened and let it slow ox for three hours then we drank the bottle slowly over the next 4 hours. The nose was dark berries and mocha. The palate was blueberry, dark plums, tobacco and mocha. The finish was moderate to long. Served with simply grilled steak.

Big and extracted wine with gobs of blackberry, boysenberry, and black cherry fruit with hints of red plum. Full bodied with still powerful tannins and lots of smoky oak, although notes of tobacco, fennel, and baking spices linger in the background. This 10 year old big boy needs more time. Doesn’t seem together yet and feels young/closed. Try again in 5-10 years.

Much better than the bottle I had a year and a half ago. Opened and slow ox'd for 8 hours before dinner. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, dark plums, charred meat, licorice and a hint of spice. The finish was long.

Halfway through the first glass, my lips got a burning, tingly sensation, then my tongue. I stopped drinking and it went away. Took another sip and it came back. Great bottle of Howell Mountain Cab. The palate had smoke, spice, forest floor/wood. Some oak on the finish but all in all a great bottle. I have a case and this was the first bottle. Hope to have several more of these soon.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Vogt Vineyard is a deep, tightly coiled wine. Menthol, smoke, pine, licorice and black fruit emerge from the glass in this large-scaled, expressive wine. 4 hour decant. Very different profile from most Napa cab. Very clean and "light" upon entry (slightly herbal) and picks up weight and fruitiness through the finish. Finish exhibits dark juicy fruit, black tea, flint and goes on and on. Enough fruit to be pleasurable yet interesting. Silky. Makes you want to taste more.

Dang. This one was fruity, but not sweet. It was popped, waited about 30 minutes while we were finishing up a bottle of Paradigm Merlot. Not decanted. This wine was very expressive in the glass.
