Another variation on the GSm from Law. This one is very Syrah forward, bright on entry and smooth through the mid. Not much on the finish, but who cares??

Delectable, delicious, divine. Supple and balanced, those beautiful dark berry and tobacco, leather notes, but never tasting over extracted or muscular. My favorite kind of bottle.

Dark fruit, garrigue, tobacco and spice notes come together in this wonderful Paso Robles blend. Great depth and silky texture. This is as smooth as a Porsche on a highway. Great juice.

Blue and black fruit lead the way with garrigue, leather, and tobacco. Amazing depth and texture. A wonderful noses that highlights this unique blend from Paso Robles. At age eight, I don’t believe this wine will get any better, but it is firing on all cylinders. Great juice.

Blue and red fruit, garrigue, Mediterranean spice and wild herbs create and intellectual Paso Robles wine. Great depth and texture. An unusual blend, but it work well here. One thing I have learned about the producers in Paso, is that they aren’t afraid to get away from traditional blending formulas. Good juice.

75% Syrah/13% Petite Verdot/12% Petite Sirah. A beast of a wine right now. Blueberry, black cherry raspberry fruit. Thick and rich with notes of smoked meat, black licorice, tobacco, and leather. Full throttled, lots of depth, big tannins, and long finish. No rush on this one.

I must admit that I wasn’t sure about the grape varietals in this wine working together well, but I received a pleasant surprise. Red and blue fruit are accented by garrigue, tilled soil, tobacco and leather. There is a lot going on in the glass. Great texture and depth. Beautiful and intellectual aromatics. This wine has another five to seven great years of enjoyment in the bottle. Good juice.

Big wine, bordering on port-like, but well made. Dark fruit notes and spice on the nose and palate. Long finish. The wine is drinking well now, but can easily age for many more years. (Note: Port-like quality even more prominent on Night 2)

Distinctive Rhône-Bordeaux blend from Paso Robles, showing the best of all three. Dark raspberry, cranberry, and chocolate, with spicy structure, cigar box tannins, and a drying, black cherry finish. A lively Paso red, in a good place now, with even better years ahead. 75% Syrah 13% Petit Verdot 12% Petite Sirah

2nd day notes. 4 grape blend. Beautiful nose and taste of cedar, blackberries, blueberry, boysenberry (yes, lots of dark berries!) with some chocolate, cranberry and anise notes with a little sweet sassafras (root beer) thrown in. Medium plus acidity and low tannins. Really nice but a touch over sweet. About 93, down a little from my last bottle.

Terrific Rhôndeaux (?) style blend from Paso. We tasted at Law a year or two ago, and found the wines lacking depth and complexity. This is the exception and unlike anything we tasted that day. Excellent balance of fruit, acid, tannins, violets, earth. A truly delicious wine! Oh, if only all Law Estate Beyond Category were of the same blend from year to year. This vintage stands out as a really great wine amongst the others.

More or less unchanged from bottle opened last year. Big dark syrah fruit, big bold body, lengthy finish, great depth. When you are in the mood for a big syrah this hits the spot.

Got to give points where points are deserved. This is a very nice Syrah. Given the abv I was shocked that the wine didnt feel at all heavy or hot. Big dark syrah fruit, a hint of olive but mostly fruit driven. I doubt this will improve with time as my experience with these higher alcohol, heavy extraction wines is that they tend to be better in the 5 or so years post release. That said no rush to drink …

Did a side by side with the 2013 and this vintage is great also. More fruit forward but still dry, complex with a spicy strawberry finish.

1.5 hour decant. Dark purple with a garnet rim. Predominantly Syrah blend. Beautiful nose of subdued Kentucky bourbon and red maraschino cherry. Flavors are similar with some steak notes and..., yes, chocolate dipped bacon. Ultra smooth with a nice dry pleasant finish. Medium bodied. Wow, the aroma of this wine is really special. Solid 94 and likely to improve.
