Greatly enjoyed with a Sunday night pizza dinner. Cork looked great, wine smelled and drank amazing. Loads of red fruit, strawberries (?!), cherries. With time, more leather and sour fruits. Surprised at how young the wine tasted and how little diminished by age it was; it retained lots of the expected acidity and sour tang. Wish we had more! Did not decant.

2001 Bricco dell’Uccellone Barbera d’Asti. Alc 14.5% From a 375 ml. Bought near release and stored well Still deep color with some minor clearing at the edges Cork intact Initially a bit musty on the nose but this turns into leaves and earth Palate is dense with dark sweet cherry, plums and a bit of sweet soy sauce and roasted tomatoes . Mature but showing very well

Absolutely loved it. This is still very much alive and kicking with all the classic notes of Braida with some mature notes. I would never have guessed 2001. It is many years ago last time I tried this in a much youngest vintage, but this brings me right back to the Dinner in Neive first time I had the pleasure of tasting Braida. Big recommendation

Tastes still fine, I wouldn’t mind storing it in a cool environment for another 3-4 years. A Bricco is a True classic.

Early Jan 2019: dark rubin color; cherries, tar and roses; medium acidity; austere on the palate; light/medium body. Mature Bricco 2001.

What a gorgeous example of the virtues of aged Barbera... Sandalwood, raisins, cranberries, dried cherries, spicebox and beef blood. Marvelous!

definitely tiring with fruit fading - drink soon

This time I get it. I think the earlier bottle I had may have been a bit compromised during transport that led to flatness. This bottle was more in line with my expectations for this classic wine; deep, dark and smoky with an intense dark cherry core. Peripheral aromatics developed in the tasting carafe.

A bit past it's prime, starting to brown. Figgy nose with a little bit of vanilla and cream. Took some decanting time for the fruit to show. It never quite came around fully for me, but was up against some ringers. Dusty barbera fruit on the palate, some fig, soil, minerality. Slightly sour finish. This bottle might not have been stored properly, but still pretty damn good.

Wife said "It's good." and "I like it." in the same night!!! I like it too. Such a rustic, classic smell and flavor. Leather, graphite, black cherry. This seems to be a wine that appeals more to the European palate. I don't think this is going to get any better, but I certainly wish I had another to try out in a few years.

Didn't much enjoy this. Perhaps a little faded. Dried fruit and earth, with somewhat of a metallic finish. Thin finish.

G & W reißen was auf! Langer, erfrischender Abgang.

This is at its peak right now.. Best after an hour of air. Dark, rich, undertone of smoke or leather. Really enjoyable. If you have it, its time to drink. Shows no sign of decline

Perfect expression of this grape. Opened up beautifully over 2-3 hrs. Fantastic on its own and even better with food. Had it with mushroom risotto. Soft but good tannins, complexity (leather, prune....)

drinking perfectly now, smooth, full of dark fruits and terrific with bbq. Big difference between this and the 2003 which drank much sweeter

Slightly corked (though no one else thought so). Besides that, similar to last experience - some brett, dusty wood and dried cherry.

Medium dark to rim. Initially tar with background dark fruits. Tar fades with some time revealing blackberry, pencil lead and cherry. Really nice classic barbera fruit which is still youthful and vibrant. Round and silky in the mouth and somewhat international with its oak presence. Delicious at the table and excellent overall. Now or hold for two to three years, maybe more.
