Austrian Rieslings (Domäne Wachau, Dürnstein, Austria) : Flight 1, Wine 1: Light lemon colour. Floral notes, citrus, stone fruit, peach, and light minerality, with fresh, sour acidity, and average to good length. Medium-bodied, with good concentration and moderate complexity.

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2010 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany) : *** brief impression from tasting event, no detailed tasting note *** Glass: Gabriel Standard and Sophienwald Bordeaux Bottle opened at noon, double decanted. Drunk about 8-10h later. Screw cap. Bottle bought at release. Pirate. Clear, pale golden color. Some issue with the wine. No TCA, but some thought UTA. Drinkable, but certainly the weakest wine of the evening. 87

Very tart, very high acidity, needs a bit of time. - 90 points

Great wine with a touch of sweet roundness, a rich but not overwrought body, plenty of yellow fruit mixed with minerals and some secondary flavors.

Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah Clear, pale light golden color. Medium intense nose with yellow stone fruits and wet stones. Bone dry with vintage typical high acidity. Elegant, mineral, racy, currently a good companion with food to match the high acidity. No signs of Botrytis, clean and pure. Drinking windows has just begun, it has potential for further ageing and might gain 1-3 points over time.

Great stonefruit scent on the nose, very perfumy; still quite tart on the palate, lots of acidity, not as fruit-driven as the nose, but elegant, mineral and racy. Not a hint of Botrytis, very clean and pure. Has potential to improve if the acidity calms down a bit with bottle age. - 90+ points

Slightly spritzy. A very ripe nose of peach, stonefruit, lemon and beeswax, along with a hint of something floral. Very fruit forward with a warm feel to it, not really my kind of a Riesling nose to be honest but at least it is expressive. On the palate likewise rich, ripe and mouth-filling with some alcoholic warmth. I'm sure there can't be much residual sugar but the ripeness and ABV together create an illusion of sweetness. Light yellow-looks like a 5 year old wine. Very complex aromatics: tea, ginger, and stone fruit. Medium weight-by this I mean more like Alsatian Riesling than really packed Smaragd. Incredibly fresh fruit, which in the mouth leans more toward succulent orange than peach. Elegant and poised, outstanding remaining acidity and gentle soil on the finish. tasted @ Vinorama Classic Event: barrel sample: Intensely perfumy and flavored Riesling with full body, high resudual sugar, sweet stone fruits and a huge bouquet of flowers. Very floral and impressive this year, but I found the sweetness slightly distracting at this early stage. Should age well though. - 89+ points

13,50% alc., goldgelb, in der Nase überreife Ananas in Honig, etwas Kräuter, am Gaumen ebenfalls Ananas, Honig, genug Säure, dick und lebendig, ein Wonneproppen, fast wie ein Süßwein ohne die Süße, trotzdem honigsüß, sehr lässiger Wein, sowas kann nur ein reifer Wein bieten, ein Bollwerk gegen die Jungwein-Trink-Ideologie; leiwand!
