Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner with Musicians (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune) : Small glass, brief note. Ripe and powerful black fruit, maturing gracefully. This was probably better a few years back, so still very enjoyable now.

In a beautiful spot today. The nose offers some freshly grated ginger, brown spice, ripe plum and dried fig. The palate is plush and rich with a base of bedrock. It has the perfect balance between sweet and savoury elements and there's a kiss of tart acidity freshening up the back-end.

Was digging seeing this on the counter, as part of the dinner. At 20 years +, this is still quite fresh. Shows strawberry, some light secondary notes. I suspect this can go another 5 years very well, as there is acid and bright colors to this wine. A nice treat.

Schoolight dinner (NYC) : A nice rustic, French country wine. This was on the early side of approachable, starting to show development but, I hope, with a fair amount in reserve. There was a glimmer of red fruits peeking out from behind considerable turned earth, barnyard, and some brett, as well as some coarse tannin to resolve.
