Wren Hop Pinot Noir Black Sheep 4 Barrel

Last one of these in my cellar and this wine still has plenty of road ahead. Rich blackberry and black cherry notes with evident spice throughout. Has great balance and although big and hedonistic it does not come across as over extracted or over the top. A bit of alcohol heat apparent as well as some tannins. Overall, a great barrel selection from Wren Hop hat truly delivers.

My only complaint is the oversized lip of the bottle (plus the wax seal), which makes it very difficult to open the cork…please change the bottle design!

Got these last two bot5les at auction for a steal ($65 each)….it’s just as amazing as the previous ones I’ve had…..big, lush with a touch of spice

Wonderful Barrel selection from Wren Hop. Spicy black plums, overripened mulberries and plump blackberries dominate. A big, seductive Pinot that is flavorful. Very hedonistic and sexy. Deep, rich color matches the flavor profile. Purple and concentrated color and flavor profile. Translucent.

Deep, dark black raspberry and black cherry on the nose, along with lots of spice qualities. Between medium and full bodied (14.5% ABV) with black raspberry and black cherry both upfront and through the middle. Huge richness and depth through the middle. Tannins, acidity, tart blackfruit notes and lots of spices on the backside and finish. The spices struck out a bit and weren't quite as in balance with the fruit as they should be. Exceptional wine…plush and perfectly balanced

This is far from the black sheep of the family. A steller Wren Hop offering that has a lot going on. Great aromas of rose petals and a bit of baking spice. Delicious palate attack by with cherry compote, spiced purple plum and nice acidity. Almost a slight effervescent quality. Lively with amazing depth and length. This is a special wine that has a wonderful upside.

This was very nice as all wren hops 4 barrels are. But this needs more time to evolve. Huge potential and will like score higher in Years to come.

Still needs a little time to open up. Lot of spice and coffee on the nose, wine is fruit-forward with some spice on the back end.

Love this four barrell select Pinot from Wren Hop. From the first time I had it at their tasting room I knew this was a winner. Dark fruit, spice box, opulent and hedonistic but with balance and finesse. Gorgeous and not for the faint of heart. Hitting on all cylinders.

Holy cow! Lavender on the nose, leading to a palate of boysenberry, fat ripe mulberries, potpourri, grandma’s satchel, all with a bright bead of acidity that leads to a bit of drying tannins on the back end. Complex, fresh, big yet sophisticated. Dijon clones come through and the savory side of RRV fruit. Just an incredible wine. Tasted this first at the winery in Summer of 2021 and knew I needed this offering. Plenty of time to see this unfold …
