Wonderful nose with cherry cola, spiced and herbs. The wine is still quite intact but sorely lacking acidity - not sure if that this bottle or across the board at this point. It makes the wine quite flabby on the palate, especially with the 16% abv. Interesting but not outstanding - perhaps the other bottle will be different…

PnP but the wine really comes together and harmonizes after about 20 minutes of air. A medium to deep violet in color. The nose is filled with dark red fruits, spice and some earth. All of these appear even stronger on the medium bodied palate. The acidity is up to the job of balancing the wine, and any tannins are completely integrated. A very nice showing of a fully aged Zin from a prime producer.

Slo-oxed for 10 minutes but better after 30 minutes or so. The color was a deep violet to a faded rim and there were heady aromas of dark fruits. Although there was a solid presence of black and dark red fruits on the medium to plus bodied palate, they were slightly overshadowed by the spice and pepper, with some earth notes added. The acidity was up to the task of balancing the fruit and all tannins were integrated. This wine …

Cranberry, saddle and ash with a nose of herb and ripe berry. Almost seemed to have a tiny bit of TCA.

Opened and poured. Full bodied deep colored, showing some smoothness with dark reds and blacks. Similar to many Turley's, perhaps my tastes are changing as many of them seem similar. Good, but lacking some character.

Pretty nose with sour cherries galore, red fruits and a very subtle sanguine note that some will taste as mineral. I noted a very lively touch of zesty acid that almost suggested citric acid but could have been a bit of carbon dioxide dissolved in the wine (carbonic acid), though I noticed no bubbles on the interior walls of the glass. Could be at peak, but my experience with Turley Zins doesn't go much before the 2011 vintage. No signs …

Had a bit of an annoying fizz that may have been a precursor to biological contamination. I wouldn’t keep it much longer. Very ripe but not pruned, otherwise.

Not as complex as most of the other Turley Zins. Dark fruit on the nose and palate and some pepper on the finish. Clearly past it's peak but still went well with burgers from the grill.

Full but not overloaded with fruit. Complex. Cola, cherry, spice, chocolate, minerality. The nose is weaker than the taste.

Dense maroon/magenta color. 👃🏻 cherry, raspberry, and a little barnyard 👅 dark cherry, raspberry, red cassis, and some mild black pepper on the finish which is about 30 sec. Nice pairing with BBQ and a variety of sauces

Ripe berry with underbrush in the nose. Minimal tannin impact but there is some acidity lingering in the finish. Drink any time.

Chose this all-American wine for Memorial Day. Black fruits with heavy sour and herbal notes. Good for the price, but not particularly harmonious. Actually, I'd call this chaotic in flavor profile, but it pulls it off. Sort of like our great country these days. I agree with a prior commenter who says Turley zins are better younger than this. My experience is that Turley exuberance starts to break down with too much time. You can still enjoy them, but they …

After a month and 4 days the Coravin Pivot has been tested to the max. Signs of oxidation and the wine is just one note. Sampled multiple times and only a small amount left in the bottle of the bottle

Similar to my 11/2020 TN. 2 hour decant, served ~ 68 degrees in BDX glass. Really nice spicy brambleberry fruit. Detected a bit of heat (15.7% ABV) and a little overripe portiness. An excellent wine, but I continue to be convinced that these big Turleys are best at the 5-6 year point.

Death by black pepper but gorgeous. All dark blackberry and raspberry, tobacco. A whopper. At peak, but has held up beautifully and benefited from the bottle age.

Opened and poured over two nights. Reticent nose, with jammy black fruits and dense plum, grapey meaty berries and round fruit on a braised and toasty frame. Quite nice, not too hot, medium body with some spicy tannin on the finish.

Great drinking spot now. Sour cranberry and raspberry with strong herb flavors. Very zinny—still a strong level of alcohol like a young zin. Good mouth coat and finish. Wood and berry on the nose. Decanted and let breathe for two hours before drinking.

This is a wonderful wine. It is spicy, complex and generally what one wants in a good Zin. The 2013 Turkeys are in general (having had 3 or 4) outstanding values and excellent wines.

Drinking really well right now. Not your typical powerful Turley but not quite Pinot Noir either like another person mentioned. Seems to have some time left, not falling apart, not flabby. Little heat in finish, perfect for our snowy night

Nose reminiscent of Pinot. Tastes like Pinot. Not only not what I was expecting from a Turley Zin, as I detest Pinot this is not a good wine for me. Give me a Dusi any day. Definitely on the stay away from this vineyard in future orders list.

Pulled a couple of Coravin glasses. Funky barnyard aromas, unusual from what I can recall for a Turley Zin. Medium+ body. Dark fruits, cassis, licorice, mint and black pepper with good acidity. Big, lush and succulent in the mouth. Quintessential Turley that grabs your face in both hands and says "pay attention to me!"

First of all - have had a lot of Turley Zin, and for the most part I find their optimum drinking window at 5-8 years from vintage year. Also need to be served below room temp. Decanted 1.5 hours, kept at around 62 degrees. Turned out, this was too cool as the wine was closed. Once it warmed up to room temp (68 degrees) and had anothe half hour of air - it bloomed nicely! None of the overripe portiness …

Terrific, and totally my style of zin. Brambly and peppery, with dusty mountain fruit. Long finish and not showing much heat despite the near 16% ABV. Drinking very well now but should hold/improve for a few years. Love me some Howell Mountain zin.

Uber sweet, concentrated black cherry and black raspberry aromas. 90 minutes of decant led to a more structured wine - surprisingly good acidity - but a load of heat underneath that sweet fruit with a good dose of pepper. Slightly better than last bottle - thankfully lacking the pruniness.
