Viss mognad, knivskarp, härligt syra, citrusdriven och mineralisk med diskreta tropiska toner. 93+

White peaches on the nose, citrus fruits, hints of petrol, something darker, almost like cassis. Very nice. On the palate though this is still totally dominated by a brutal acidic structure, very strict and lean. SF-style I know but I'm not sure the fruit has enough power here to balance this strict style of the wine. The Felseneck always does, yes, I'm not sure about this though. It's so hard on the acidity now to a an almost painful point. …

Pop and pour, served in a Spieglau Definition Bordeaux Glass. Pale golden colour. Nose: The nose opens up with touches of citrus zest and hints of tart peaches. After this, the savoury/spicy side of the wine takes over completely, showing notes of dried herbs, wet slate, forest honey, dried ginger and sea breeze. Towards the end, hints of chamomile and petrol are also added to the fray. Palate: Citrus zest, candied ginger and tart peaches open up first on the …

From 75cl, perfect cork, P+P. Definitely a better bottle than the one recorded here on 02.04.2025, and an inspired pairing with palak paneer. Vibrantly acidic and mineral, but with plenty of substance on the mid-palate. Fine now, no hurry. 91P

From 75cl, good cork, opened but not decanted 1 hour, no change in glass. This steely, defined marathon runner has now shed any fat or juiciness it might once have had. Now it's all structure, acid, minerality and more acid. I paired it with quice lorraine this evening, a mistake as the egg made it taste even scrawnier—Alsace flammkuchen would have worked better, or chicken in a cream sauce, or indeed anything able to balance its acidic severity. Fine wine, …

Popped and poured. Drunk with dinner with fish, served very cold. Fine and soft fruity and mineral nose. In the taste apple, lemon and peach, minerals, with a rather firm acidic backbone and nice mature notes, making a well integrated, balanced wine. For me an ideal mix between mature notes and fruit. Excellent. 92-93.

Nice wet stone slate aromas with hints of quince. Nice fresh intense mineral driven tension with broadening fruit quality as it expands in the mouth. Friendly flavors and very good for this level although not profound either. Excellent price for quality

Reading previous notes it seems this wine improved over the last year. Many a riesling closes down 1-2 years to reopen at a different, more complex level after 4-5 years. Nose, and aroma are typical of (Nahe) riesling. Long aftertaste. Very nice QPR for this mid range wine. Almost certainly it will mature well, but I would prefer 6 GG's to 12 bottles of this wine in my cellar. I assume the revelation in - say - 10 years will …

Ren och snyggt. Hög syra, knastertorr, har inte blommat ut ännu så vänta minst tre år till. Inget stort vin, men kan bli väldigt intressant med lite mognadstoner som inte alls finns nu

Pale; steely impact on bouquet; forceful acidity yet low key fruit to balance. An extended, graceful finish. Give it more time.

According to CT, the last time I tried this was over two and a half years ago - it was young then, and this still needs some time to knit itself together, IMO. The nose is lovely, that white fruit cocktail over slate note that I sometimes get with Riesling. But the acidity here still dominates the fruit on the palate - not bad by any means, but assuming the fruit lasts, this should still get better with some additional …

Aarhus : Typical trocken riesling. Very nice aromas from yeast and surprisingly enough already noticeable kerosene notes, which i Love so much. Excellent wine at a reasonable price [lunch Frederikshoej AArhus]

Perhaps a bit more aromatic than I suspected, elderberry and currant leaf, could definitely pass for a sauvignon blanc. Lemon, peach, tangerine, distinct sea breeze minerality and saltiness. Very nice.

Clear yellow green, apple and citrus, pretty stony, no wonder, these are the young wines of the Felseneck, Schäfer-Fröhlichs top vineyard with its slate underground. I like it a lot: like licking stones, fresh, no petrol at all. Still young but well accessible.

High hopes when I opened this last night. First sip was like sucking on an underripe lemon. No issue with the acidity, but the tartness was downright unpleasant. Two hours later it was a bit less aggressive, but still lacking in pleasure. So I corked it up, and tossed it back in the fridge overnight. Night two it had shed some of the tartness, but the finish was very watery. It never turned into anything that was enjoyable to drink. …

Back to Riesling County; 8/27/2020-8/31/2020 (Estates at the Nahe and Ruwer, different restaurants at Bad Kreuznach, Niederhausen and Trier) : And now the blend from their monopol vineyards Felseneck and Stromberg, so salty, light but terribly impressive stone licking, this time slate, the blue one, electric tension, and this is "only" the middle class, really great QPR, if you won't effort the price of the GG- bottlings, but this is just a Riesling baby, for the next decade for sure, …

Cristal clear. Minerality. Sharp acidity. A bit much for me. Maybe this was opened many years too early? At least for my taste. 88 now but could possibly be much better in the future.

From Magnum: very convincing Riesling showing, stone licking at its best, electric young Felseneck tension, salty, very fresh mouthfeel, zitrus zest driven, o.k. lacking some balance that young, but if you like this energetic Riesling style try one, *(**-****), around 90-92

Tight nose with hints of honey, lime, and a bone dry mouth of tart minerally lemon, slightly savory, a little bit of effervescence that fades quickly leaving behind the long herbal citrus finish. Intense, and with food very good. Young for sure! Still very drinkable now, will also be good in 5 years or longer I’d think.

A sunny Day at the german Outback (South of Hamburg, outback, Lüneburg heath) : From MG: Uiuiui, what a difference to the Pfeffingen Ortswein, here it comes, the young Felseneck, absolutely way too young, electric, nothing but stone licking and cesty aromas on the palate, Riesling precision, long demanding and persistent Riesling acid finish, from MG wait about a decade, from normal bottle, if you like this style of purity try again in 5(+) years, *(**-****-?)

From a bottle opened last night. White fruit cocktail on the nose; electric acidity on the palate - this will wake you up. I like this, but feel it will get better/more harmonious with additional time in the bottle.

[11 18] Tasted after Vulkangestein. Young vines from Felseneck in Bockenau. Some reduction on the nose, very herbal, lots of depth, notes of crushed stones, white fruit, quince, whitecurrant. On the palate powerful, precise, almost lean. Lots of minerality, fresh and bright, well balanced with crystalline, ripe fruit. Very long and lingering, saline finish. Amazing. Great QPR. 93-94+
