Dark, intense, mineral with classic notes of iron, black olives, dark fruit. Singing of the land. Great, great value. Leave it five years. #Herreweekend

(North Berkeley Wine Imports). This tiny winery is perched on the steep slopes of St Joseph directly above the Rhône river (and above the tiny village of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols). This site is directly across the Rhône river from the great hill of Hermitage (and slightly north). This is the heart of the original St-Joseph AOC. This old hillside vineyard perched at 1,050 ft elev on decomposed granite. 50-100 yr old vines. 3rd gen vigneron Philippe Desbos uses VERY traditional vigneron practices. …

Blueberry, white pepper, cranberry, lilacs and smoked meat. Medium body, and this old school essence. Clean and made in a very old fashioned method; aged in neutral oak. Long finish and an overall prettiness. Layered, fine tannins with the ability to age. So much persona and a striking, crunchy vibe. Drink now - 2036. May I suggest watching some of the videos out there showing aspects of the domaine. Tinkering with bygone days.
