Soft, spicy, dark fruited echezeaux, from an underdog producer. Very balanced, soft ech. very silky, with decent depth. Under the 2005 and 2009, 2010, but very enjoyable, can be drunk now and will hold for another 15 years.

More earth than fruits at the moment, and has that touch of soy sauce. Dark, but without the oomph that you find in blockbusters. On the nose there is ripe blueberries, plums, cocoa powder, lightly smoked, mushrooms and sous boi. The tannins are very fine and the wine actually becomes more lovely with air, definitely drinking right now but you are not going to find a ton of vibrancy here, more poised. The contrast between styles of Guyon back then …

Bouquet opened with wet grass, sweet ripe cherries, honeycomb, wet earth and a bit of licorice. Palate showed great complexity with layers of red dark fruit (prunes and plums come to the fore), mulberry compote, violets and licorice. Velvety finish with silky integrated tannins, my first time with this producer!

From memory. Very earthy on the palate, missing the (red) fruit here. Medium finish. Not particularly impressive for a Grand Cru.

Light garnet, quite light for a Grand Cru. Nose of red cherry compote spices, oak. Medium-light bodied palate with still quite tight tannins, which contrasts with the warm fruit element. Opened up later in the glass but not quite at the level of the 2005. Needs some more bottle time I hear from the producer. After 2018.
